Classic Saints. Score 4 goals against a Big Team and still don't win the game.

Sheff Wed away is not the easiest of starts. They are on a roll although losing their manager will not help them

Thinking of poor Coventry last season, there is no easy match in the Championship. As Saints have found out, it is a damned sight easier to get into the Championship than to get out.

Indeed. We were very lucky last time where the momentum from getting out of League One with a decent team was enough to push straight through to a second promotion.

I suspect we will be looking at a similar situation to the mid-00s again with things getting worse before they get better.

Three weeks from the first league match and just silence here. No news of signings or such?

We likely need major off loading before signings I would have thought.
Expecting
Lavia, Walker Peters, JWP and Livramento to have some level of demand but likely low fees given we are under pressure to sell

Low fees? Aren't you demanding £50m for Lavia, a 19 year old with 17 PL games behind him that cost you £14m just 12 months ago?

How good is Lavia? I know very little about him.

We signed the Championship's Team of the Year left back on Tuesday, and yesterday we signed the second most expensive Championship player ever. - A chap who's only experience of men's league football is one PL sub appearance; but it was Man City, and he also has 8 caps for Northern Ireland!

It would seem we have the deepest pockets in the championship.

Lavia is mustard. More impressive than Van Dyke bearing in mind his age and experience when he joined us. He already has caps for Belgium.

£50-60 million is cheap when he's sold to Real Madrid for £150million in 3 years time. He's that good. Saints ought to put a sell on percentage clause in the sale contract wink

A win, so churlish to complain, but what do managers see in Adam Armstrong that I don't? Yes, he tries hard, but he doesn't make runs into the dangerous areas in front of the defenders that a natural striker would, and offers no real threat in my eyes.

100% with you on this. Never seen the appeal or what he brings to the team.

Livramento to Toon for up to £40M according to the Beeb. A good return I think.

Saints holding out for £50M for Lavia:
