Can Scotland upset the hosts?
I really hope they can, but I doubt it.

Unlike some England fans, I like to support the home nations. John McGinn a talisman in the my club side Villa side week in week out, I would find it odd to cheer him every week then hope his international team lose, I want to see him do well.

I didn't realise that Scotland had never made the knockout stages of a major tournament. Reaching that has to be the goal.

I've just tee'd up my copy of Don't Come Home Too Soon by Del Amitri (arguably one of the best football songs of all time, IMHO),

I'm with you. Always support the home nations and as a Liverpool fan would love to see Robbo as captain get them out of the group.

The first game of a tournament is without doubt the best time for them to be playing Germany, and I fancy the Scots combative style might well rattle them.

I love Scotland as a country, and I'll be hoping they can qualify from the group. Getting anything from tonights game would be a massive result.

Just seen the final squads. I don't think we can rule out Belgium, Croatia or the Netherlands, as well as France, Germany and Italy. I hope I am proved wrong, but I fear we will struggle.

On Sky News right now one of their reporters was in a pub live in Dunfermline talking to some Scotland fans, he interviews an eight year old called Dillon.

Sky reporter "What have you got to say?"

Dillon "F_ck you Germany"

LMAO.

Edited to replace Jamesie with Germany, on first hear that's what I thought he said, on Twitter it sounds more like Germany.

Haha. Who was Jamesie and what had he done to upset Dillon?

I’m another who likes to see all the home nations do well. Hopefully Dillon will be happier later this evening.

That German team on paper looks pretty strong. Recognise 8 out of the starting 11. Never heard of Andrich, Tah or Middlestadt. The rest are fairly solid household names.

Scots absolutely bouncing inside the stadium. They've come to party and enjoy themselves no matter what.

What's with the ceremony.

Expecting Simon Cowell to press the buzzer any second now.

It’s a bit of a lame start, isn’t it?

It’s not exactly half time at the Super Bowl.

I think it’s the lack of lights and general feeling of a show - and looking at the participants there are a few pro dancers and then people who have come from public auditions.

Fair play - it’s done and they’ve opened the tournament.
