On a (slightly) serious note, the debt at Ipswich has now risen to 37m after a rise of over 10m since the last accounts were published.

The difference in income from Championship to L1 is huge, even if you manage to maintain crowds of 25,000 (which you can't even now) like we have.
How long is Evans going to bankroll the club if you drop to L1? His business plan seems to depend on promotion to the Premiership, not relegation to the 3rd tier.
It's an odd set up though, as the debt is primarily to the Marcus Evans group. http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=15501

I can't see him funding the club for much more than another season should we not get promoted though. How that debt will be managed then I have no idea...probably a massive interest bill will transpire and we'll go down the administration route....again....
We'll see though.

But you can't polish a turd.
Quite an appropriate phrase. Your League 1 team are living proof of that.Played 15 in the leauge, won 8, drawn 4, lost 4. Won 4 of the last 5 too.
How jealous I am of your terrific form.

It must be easy to feel smug when your team have beaten a team full of Argos shop assistants
One of them was a lawyer actually, turned down a contract with a L2 club because he can earn more in his current occupation. They had a couple of youngsters on loan from Bristol Rovers as well as several seasoned veterans from league level. The ITV cameras were there for a reason, because it was a potential upset.
That aside, wouldn't say I feel smug, but it was nice to see our strikers carrying on doing what they're paid to do.
Holt's on 14 already I think. Could be 40 for the season in all competitions.
Just praying we get your lot if we get through the next round. We'd love to play you at the moment...
Nice to get the second win on the board! I know Cardiff are going through a blip at the mo (4 straight losses for them now), but they're still 7th, we were away and well, we've not been up to much this season! We were in danger of getting cut adrift at the bottom too, so it's really important to keep in touch.
I'm interested to see that Keane has appointed former Notts County boss Ian McParland as a coach this week, too.

Cardiff had lost the previous 2, the game before was a draw. Great game, we deserved the win we were all over them.I'm interested to see that Keane has appointed former Notts County boss Ian McParland as a coach this week, too.

something that is puzzling and quite in line with the topic is why do we keep playing Priskin?
Yet again it's our known (and proven) goal scorers who have come off of the bench to save us.
FFS Roy, if someone is scoring, start them, don't leave them sitting on the bench for 60 minutes!

I was speaking to Alan Brazil Friday evening, what a legend, however, I got the slight impression he didn't like Roy Keane, anyway, he said the same.Yet again it's our known (and proven) goal scorers who have come off of the bench to save us.

I knew you couldn't resist crawling out from under your rock to reply.
In all seriousness, I do find the prospect of Keane finally getting to grips with the management thing worrying. It's very rare for a club to keep faith in an inexperienced manager and let him truly build a club in his own image.
Back in the day when it wasn't so rare the end result often paid dividends, especially for clubs our size.
I'm off to Saaarfend tomorrow night to see if we can banish the FA cup defeat from our memories with another 3 points towards promotion.
It's going to involve driving past
I'm storing the greenie I'm gonna hock in that general direction as we speak...
