About time. A player can have all the skill in the world but unless you keep yourself in peak condition then you will never realise potential.

5 pounds overweight can make a hell of a difference. Trouble is it takes at least a month to start to fully adapt to any training regime so the situation could well get worse before it gets better.

The players have needed a kick up the arse for a loooong time. You can blame the managers and the chairman but the players also have a hand in our current predicament. What I want to know is what were Mourinho and Nuno doing and why wasn't this recognised before?

Agreed. Complete disgrace to be paid millions and let the squad go from the fittest in the league to the least fit, give or take.

Does anyone else here find Ben Davies annoying?

I'm really liking Conte so far btw.

Annoying in that he's st and well below par to play for us but then I could say the same for 2 or 3 other players in the squad.

Yes I like the cut of Conte's jib, seems to be going about things the right way. Let's hope it translates into better results and better football.

The trouble is this sort of regime needs to be implemented in the summer during build up for pre season and then maintained, rather than a crash course in the middle of a busy season when you have 2 games a week to play. Time is not on his side though and he doesn't have much choice, just hope it doesn't manifest itself with a load of muscle injuries happening in the next few weeks

If that happens to pro athletes then you have to question what they have been doing previous to Conte’s regime and if he had to reorganise the bloody menus in the canteen then it’s a sad reflection on the way the club has been ran from top to bottom. IMO.

So, I guess you could say he’s playing ketchup?

Can happen to any player no matter how fit, it's the sudden change in intensity that can cause problems, rather than a gradual increase

That might be true of some middle age five a sider but it should not be with international pro footballers!

LVG sprinkling his magic again, seems to have been a poor coach since his initial Ajax stint about 25 years ago

Daft comment, nothing to do with age or existing fitness, upping training intensity suddenly is a well known problem causing soft tissue injuries with players at all levels and in many sports not just in football

Your missing the point mate!
They shouldn’t need upping their training if they are elite at their peak athletes.
And if they are elite athletes their diet should be excellent anyway or the previous regimes have been negligent or incompetent.

Anyhoo Conte has his work cut out with this bunch of serial bridesmaids.

What sort of reaction are you hoping for with a comment like that? I’m not even a Spurs fan, I just think comments like that are embarrassing, what is the point laugh
