If they start the season poorly he won't last till Christmas. The FA Cup win that's the only reason he still has a job will be long forgotten by that point.

Should give Southgate a nice break after the Euro's before taking over.. smile
Untiil Rooney is ready for the job in a few years...

I can just see the clubs complaints when the players return with less fitness than those sitting on the sofa all summer, due to the lack of movement.

Such a shame that utd manager is staying, Southgate would make a perfect manager for them

Oh please, don’t even joke about it!

Mind you, he has already dropped Rashford so it’s not all bad.

Nunez breaking scoring records for Uruguay.

If Slot can get him firing next season will be even more interesting.

If you've seen the highlights he really should have scored at least 3 with the chances he had. Still too keen and snatching at stuff, if the new coaching staff can get in his head and calm that down a bit he'll be quite something I agree.

If he's still not firing after a season with Slot and his staff, I imagine he'll be moving on. Hopefully he will come good though. Most fans love him and want him to succeed (not counting the vitriolic ones).

I was definitely in the "love him" camp until about halfway through last season. As were all the lads I know who support Liverpool and I go to matches with (very occasionally). We all lost faith as the season went on.

Would love to see him do well as no one doubts his committment and the other qualities he brings.
So far he's definitely been a cow's arse/banjo merchant though.

If they do sell Rashford to PSG I'd actually be worried because its a sign that they're finally taking the difficult decisions.

He had about 20 chances biglaugh

Watching them is a joy compared to watching England though.

Interested to see how the latest PSR tactics go down. Swapping academy players at inflated prices, see Newcastle and Everton allegedly.

Quite clever really - two teams have academy players worth £5m say, 100% profit when sold.

Both sell their player to other team for £20m on 5 year contract. Instant £16m profit in year 1 and £4m cost in next 4 years. Kicks the can but gives you an instant solution to a current PSR issue

Not been following the transfers - have two sides actually bought academy players of each other?
I thought this would happen using the Saudi league as the washing point but that doesn't seem to have happened.

Can't anyone just...y'know...follow the rules?

Silly question I suppose.

Thing is £10m for a young player that's had first team appearances is relatively little these days. And who's to say we didn't want to buy their player and they didn't want yo buy ours?

The whole PSR thing is a mess, dome clubs have to sell players before the end of the month and not get proper value for them, yet a few weeks later they've got a load of money to spend again because it's a different accounting period.

Meanwhile Chelsea continue to take the piss and nobody at the PL bats an eyelid

Was speaking with a pal and Everton fan last week and he was telling me about this. Compared to what is going on at the other end of the table I have to say it’s quite ingenious.

A bizarre one. The Beeb have just come up with a story claiming Newcastle offered Liverpool Anthony Gordon, while wanting Quansah as part of the deal. We said no.

Just saw that on Skysports too.

I'd love to have Gordon (he was a spotty teenager but seems to have matured quite a bit since leaving the Blues). He'd be a great addition on the left IMO. I wonder if we'd mull it over and go back perhaps with a straight cash offer? Problem is, we'd probably have to sell Diaz and I doubt we'd do a deal unless we sold first?! I'd personally view Gordon as a solid upgrade to Diaz.

Can't be that many players starting as a kid with Liverpool, going to Everton and then coming back. I dunno. Even if we do sell Diaz, we seem to have Darwin and Cody who both prefer down the left and I'd still have either of them over him at the moment.

Diaz has also said he's not interested in leaving (I know they all say that but after the support we gave him during and after his family crisis I can believe it).
