Does make you think they did that deliberately, after all Klopp's complaining about them. I guess that means it will be the TNT Sports match that day (or whatever they're called).

Already noticing how many supposedly educated media people are pronouncing Slot's first name as "Arnie". Arne is pronounced "Ar-ner". Pretty easy as Dutch names go...

Adam.

The thread of bitterness actually complaining about this.

Hate playing the new teams early on, they are full of hope and enthusiasm and haven’t been figured out yet.

In Slot, I think we're in good hands. He has a similar vibe to, Klopp and really connects with fans. I'm really looking forward to this season. There could be some surprises.

I'm optimistic; I see no reason not to be. Last season we overachieved for quite a while but the cracks were showing and got bigger as the season wore on. Very few games last season where we played really well for most of the match and things were pretty patchy at times.

I think the players will benefit from new ideas and a different coaching team. Any who don't will disappear over the next year, no doubt. I'm looking forward to it. Not suggesting "he can't fail" as we're heading into the unknown a bit but no point being a pessimist before they even start!

(that's not aimed at anyone, btw - just my general outlook)

I’m not really a pessimist, but it’s more likely we go downhill than improve. Just look at our history/United etc after a fantastic manager leaves. But that’s all just part of the fun of being a fan. I grew up in the 90’s, so it can’t get worse than that… can it?!

I think you growing up in the 90s perhaps understandably influences your POV. I went from Shankly to Paisley to Fagan to Dalglish and for around 18 years it was all "rather lovely". hehe

We've had poor managers since and we've had managers who were good and then went poor. And some inbetween. So yeah, anything could happen but I remain optimistic. Slot may take time to adapt to the PL but I'm sure he'll be given time to see if he CAN.

Very interesting. He's more of a conductor as opposed to Klopp's rock and roll front man. He's saying all the right things, but let's see how things look when we kick-off against Ipswich.

Come on Redmen!

I think him having more time to spend on the training ground can only be a good thing.

Clearly his own man. He'll no doubt be driven to stop people talking about JK as quickly as poss.

Going to take some time especially with so many players being away for a few more weeks yet. What we do in the transfer market this summer will tell us a lot about his plans I think.

Speaks well about his ideas, Klopp's time, how their styles match, rivarly with City etc. He comes across conscious about Klopp's legacy and achievements and style but concious also that he is his own man with his own ideas. I for one am excited for what Slot will do especially working with some of the younger players including Nunez.

Cracking goal from the powercube for Switzerland tonight. That's the last 3 Euros and 3 World Cups he's scored in apparently.

He said several times what a great squad we had already. I wonder if that's code for "don't expect many signings just yet".

Shaq never scores simple goals. 1 of my favourite players when he was with us.

He also said he's been on the phone with Richard (Hughes) most days, which suggests there is business to be done.

Same here with Shaq, a great player and nice to see him chatting with Robbo after the final whistle.

Slot seemed to be referring more to staff recruitment when he was talking about his regular chats with Richard - they just got their goalie coach but still "have other positions to fill" (which is mildly worrying but I guess they have it in hand).

He didn't seem to refer to signing players - and he wasn't asked that either, frustratingly (but then it is the official channel so they're not going to "put him on the spot"). I would have thought a couple would be coming in but I guess we'll see.

I wonder just how much effect a complete turnover in the "find a player worth buying" department might have, so close to the transfer window.
