"Liverpool are keen". I wonder who told them that...
I normally ignore most transfer stories but this was first reported by Ornstein and has been picked up the BBC so it probably has stronger chance of having some truth than usual.

Thing is, we are probably "interested" in a lot of players - most will come to nothing as the player either isn't available, is too expensive or wants to go elsewhere. This looks like 1 from the long list quickly being chalked off, if anything at all.

Szobo today becomes the youngest player ever to captain a side in the history of the Euros.

Cool stat that.

Didn't see the game but he got an assist.

Lots of talk of us bidding £42m for 18 year old, right footed CB Leny Yoro from Lille and it being turned down as they want £50m minimum.

I know nothing about this lad whatsoever, but if accurate it does make me wonder about VVD's contract past the end of next season as otherwise seems a strange move when we already have a great young defensive prospect in Quansah?

We have 3 CH’s…. One seems to be a little frail, one is a kid and shouldn’t really be relied on to play every game (assuming the frail one is broken) and the third one is towards the end of his career.

Seems sensible to buy another.

We have 4 by my reckoning (VVD, Quansah Ibou, Gomez) and whilst I don't disagree about buying another with Matip having left, £50m+ for an 18 year old seems a bold move?

Does make me wonder if we can expect to see a back 3 under Arne as we surely wouldn't be looking to spend that kind of money for someone to warm the bench?

What's happening with Sepp van den Berg?

Or it’s an investment in the future squad.

Personally, I’d like to see us find another LB.

£50m+ would be quite an investment on someone so young and inexperienced.

For me a top class 6 should be top of the list.

He's given every impression he'd like to stay where he's been on loan - and they want him. They just can't agree a fee, last I heard. Unless he doesn't want to come back full stop, surely it would be better for Slot to assess him in pre season before we decide to sell.

I don't think any of our CBs other than VVD are top class. They all have good games and of the 3 Quansah has the most potential.

So any strengthening there is welcome.

I'd agree if he wasn't 18, had 1 season in French football and looks likely to cost £50m+. If genuine it does seem an uncharacteristically risky bit of business for us?

I agree on that. I've not seen him. I'm assuming that he's already head and shoulders above those mentioned above due to the figures being bandied around.

Well if its true that we have offered 42m, and his club want 50m, then perhaps nothing will happen anyway. I was kinda hoping that that once the window was open we'd get our business done but perhaps with everyone "new to the job", that's going to take a bit longer this year.

Chelsea have offered €400 mil and a 38 year contract.

First game of the season. Ipswich. Kick-off... 12.30. They're going for Slot already!
