Not sure I'd be pleasantly surprised to see him playing.
Would much rather he was sat with his feet up, and maybe England rejection might put a rocket up his arse.
I'm hoping the new boss will have a better plan for how to best utilize him personally, and there's no way he isn't getting in the final squad for the Euro's barring injury so hope he gets game time and does well.Would much rather he was sat with his feet up, and maybe England rejection might put a rocket up his arse.
Fingers crossed all of our lads have good tournaments this summer as a few like Cody, Szobo, Trent and Darwin could do with a confidence boost after such a lackluster end to the domestic season.

I liked him at right back, bombing up and down and whipping the ball or playing the cross field ball.Fingers crossed all of our lads have good tournaments this summer as a few like Cody, Szobo, Trent and Darwin could do with a confidence boost after such a lackluster end to the domestic season.
Yes his defending was suspect but it was exciting.
Always good to start with a bit of excitement. Absolutely loved those early klopp teams (and the 2013/14 Rogers team)
If you aren't going to win anything let's give it some at least.
There is no way Trent starts at RB for England, simply because the rest of CD are just as average at defending. Maguire as we know is a slow u-turning barge and Stones has hardly played for City this season and when he has, at times has played a more advanced role for City (i.e. away from CD).
As much as good as Trent is at spraying the ball, we need LB and RB capable of decent defensive positioning and capable of understanding what a tackle looks like. If we're looking for some creativity late on in a game we're chasing, then he becomes a useful option.

Sorry I wasn't clear - I was referring to him playing for us, not England. As much as good as Trent is at spraying the ball, we need LB and RB capable of decent defensive positioning and capable of understanding what a tackle looks like. I have struggled to get any enthusiasm for England for some time.
Actually think I'd rather see Robbo do well with Scotland
Looks like City are getting their retaliation in first and suing the Premier League for discrimination.
Story now on The Times behind a paywall but this is a rival paper summary
Manchester City have accused the Premier League of 'discrimination against Gulf ownership' in relation to 'success-stifling' rules approved by their rivals. The Premier League champions are campaigning for the removal of the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules, as per The Times.
Not got the full details but looks like an admission of guilt that will buy them more time.

This appeared in my inbox today. Tony Evans recounting events around the 1984 European Cup Final and how nasty Roma and their fans were.

His book about the 83/84 season is well worth picking up. Liverpool prepared for the EC final with a relaxing trip to Tel Aviv - where most of the players were involved in a mass brawl. With each other. And it wasn't seen as a big deal.
I guess anyone under 40 might not believe how it was back then. The good old days.
For anyone who then might want to remind themselves about the final - 8 minutes or so of highlights:

As far as Man City goes - that really is taking the piss out of the football authorities. Hopefully sense will prevail and it will end up being lost or thrown out.

I hope the PL find them guilty and throw them out of the league for good. They're a division 2 club with no fans any way
Actually when they WERE a Div 2 club, they were the only team that got anything like 30k home supporters every game. Very big and loyal support that stuck with them during their relegations and bad years. I know this as a friend and colleague back then was and still is a season ticket holder and used to tell me regularly.
But the club is now clearly owned by mega wealthy, super entitled stbags.

Man City always used to have a loyal fan base of c25-30k; but then back then most ex-division 1 clubs did.
I moved to Stockport when I was 7 and they were the most supported team amongst my peers. As football changed you could see the move to UTD happening as the youngsters made their choice of team. Quite a lot of evidence of city building a new fan based amongst younger people, but they will take a few years before they funnel through into becoming proper economic units like the fans of rest of the big clubs.
There is a case here in Australia where a female teacher has been charged with abusing young male students in the 80s and wants the case thrown out, not because she is guilty, but because the laws she's been charged with didn't exist when she committed the crimes.
No denial she did it, just the legality of being charged.
So yeah, City seem to be using the same defense.
As an aside, see that Guardiola, De Bruyne and Alvarez all have articles regards leaving in next 12 months. Sinking ship and all that...

LFC confirmed all those leaving at the ends of their contracts today. Apart from the seniors we know about, some of the kids that have been mentioned occasionally have gone too:
Adam Lewis, who played in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury in 2020 but spent the last 2 seasons on loan, as well as Frauendorf and Musialowski.
Adrian has apparently been offered a new contract.
