Bloke with a bag - OK who is it?
Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth.
Thanks.

But I'm not keen on people who turn up with baggage*.

He turns up with a fairly poor injury record of late so he's come to the right place.

Clever move. It manages expectations early on.

Feels like we're looking for more depth in the squad and accepting injuries as part and parcel of a season. I think he looks a good signing for free. Most likely a good upgrade on the likes of Lascelles et al.

I'd have been delighted if we had picked up Adarabioyo on a free as well, but he's gone to stall his career at Chelsea.

That's actually pretty decent!

Good start, tough around Christmas but home for Boxing day. Slightly tough run in as well but home for the last game as well. I don't think we can have too many complaints about that one at all.

Sandro back in for Tottenham at home? Should be a fun one

I'm mentally preparing for the worst so I'm calling it now- Howe to manage England given you'll all be sick of Southgate's 'style' of football and be after the complete opposite.

I think he will want the job in the future but I don't see him leaving now, he's too hands on and obsessed with the game and wants to be constantly involved which he wouldn't get with England, and I also think that he will have an eye on legendary status for the toon which hopefully includes a trophy and perhaps a statue outside the ground one day.

I'm hoping so anyway. I'll be gutted if he leaves.

I hope you're right but despite your points (which do make sense), maybe it'll be different if the FA come knocking and the reality of the opportunity is there, especially with the squad he'd have to work with.

I’m not sure he would fit England. He seems obsessed with the game and every detail. Getting the players for a couple of weeks a year wouldn’t work with his game.

That doesn’t mean it can’t or won’t work, but I can’t see him taking that over his job now.

I think a better option at the minute might be the England under 21 coach as he’s done so well.

Howe won't take the England job. Not a chance of it at this stage of his career.

Keep it to yourselves, but I’ve heard on the QT that Steve Bruce is being lined up for Southgate’s job. Apparently, he fits the FA criteria for the England post i.e. absolutely useless as a club manager.
