Turkey After watching last nights game you wonder where football has lost its way. Breathtaking and entertaining is what we want,and we got.
Meanwhile a lot of teams, not just England dish out caution and safety like they work at a bank.
As for the save at the end? Seems very far fetched that everyone instantly bangs on about the gordon banks save from 1970.
Anyone with a bit more knowledge would realize it was in a group game that england LOST. Pretty much lacking any significance.
British wallers seem to be champions of finding an upside in dissapointment. Like a mother who always says how popular her jailbird son is.
A spectacular save that means you won a game and progressed is 100x more worthy.
Portugal keeper saving 3 in a row is probably the greatest effort we have seen.
Meanwhile a lot of teams, not just England dish out caution and safety like they work at a bank.

With 4 mins stoppage time on the clock, and 2-1 up on the scoreboard, the fact that he made that great save at 94m00sec is quite poignant, and surely puts that save into 'legendary' category. Meanwhile a lot of teams, not just England dish out caution and safety like they work at a bank.

Those 3 penalty saves were pretty damn awesome. And so was the Ronaldo penatly save before the actual shootout. Ronaldo stuck it right towards the side netting and keeper saved it. The 3 in a row shootout saves were also pretty damn good penalties as well, just great goalkeeping kept them out.
One thing that annoys me in penalties is when commentators say 'great penalty' when its not really, it just happened to go in the net. Sometimes good penalties are saved and sometime rubbish penalties go in, but commentators rarely acknowledge that.
Best penalty I've ever seen was Harry Maguire for England though. An absolute thunder barstard into the top corner, busting the camera in the process

You'd have to ask yourself how many England players would get into that Turkey team ??

.There's been a few good games in Euro 2024 so far, mostly involving the so-called smaller nations such as Georgia and Romania. However, many of the games involving the fancied sides - especially England of course - have been frankly rather boring.
Is it that the likes of England, France, Belgium and Italy are worn out after a long domestic season? Players such as Bellingham and Saka have played lots of games for both club and country. Then again, Spain look lively enough to me.
Perhaps it's fear of failure. After all, fixtures such as the Champions League final are often cagey affairs so maybe players are scared to make a mistake.
What has been good however is the fans. The noise, colour and exuberance from supporters of many of the teams has been wonderful to see, even if their teams haven't always been great - Scotland for example. Could do without the cup throwing though, and the flares.

All the top teams and leagues play tippy happy sideways football copying the Spanish way from years ago. Spain have moved it on several levels. The lesser nations accept they aren’t cultured enough to play boring football so go out to win matches and entertain.
