Hire car from Alicante airport

I need to hire a car from Alicante on Christmas eve for a week, was looking at getting one from Victoria as we used to use them years ago but after hearing all these horror stories about hire car companies ripping people off I just wanted to see if anyone had any bad experiences of them or could recommend any other co's?
