Hi chaps, can anyone advise on some great places to stay/see 'off the beaten track' when i drive thru Spain mid July.

Will be crossing from MARQUÉS DE RISCAL, EL CIEGO to CADAQUES..... Just thought someone may have some tips of things to see, do, eat along the way!

Many thanks

Marques de Riscal is a great hotel - although the service is a bit iffy in my view. Do the wine tasting - it's well worth it and they have English speaking ( Romanian!)guides. Pre dinner drinks on the balcony off the gourmet restaurant is a must do. If you want a pic of your car bathed in pink light park it opposite the entrance in late afternoon and you'll get a reflection...

The next village was visited by some people on the last tour I did and they all raved about it. (The supermarket in Elciego has good prices for any booze you want to bring back - I don't think he's restocked for years! fight your way in past the fruit and veg and it's on the right)

I don't know the Costa Brava area that well, but Bielsa in the Monte Perdido area looks great - although it may be more atmospheric in Spring when there is still snow high up. There's a Parador there and they are usually good.

Obviously you'll head for Barca - and the Parador there is Vic Sau - just outside town
I'll let those more expert than I come up with other ideas
