off to northern spain in july on the bike catching the ferry down to santander,stopping in Llanes,Burgos and Zaragoza and then up through the Pyrenees,do u think i will have to book accomadation? or just try on spec?

You will have no problem finding accomadation, I lived in Galicia for 5 yrs and used to explore the North Coast of Spain through the summer and there are Hostals throughout provided you don't leave it too late after 5pm you will always have a bed for the night.

bit late but that road from santander to burgos is awesome for a bike or fast car!
