I am looking at taking my Porsche Cayman down to Estepona area early August returning early October and would appreciate any suggestions of car transport companies, preferably based on recent experiences.

My backup plan is to take the ferry to Northen Spain and drive down, but that's lots of kms.

Do not use carshippingtospain they snapped the wing mirror off my Gallardo, refused to take any responsibility, stopped answering any emails, and hung the phone up on calls, it was going to cost me more in legal fees to rectify this, so ended up paying for it myself.
Unfortunately I wasn't there to receive the car, and they though I wouldn't notice as they tied a yellow towel around it.

Perhaps you have missed the sorry tale recently on the French thread. Be very sceptical of anything that looks like a good deal.

From Devon driving down is a no brainier. The ferry is good .The scenery is pretty stunning all the way. The Autovias are great and driving round Madrid is easy. Even keeping to speed limits you have 10-11 hours of enjoyable driving.

I have a private man with a 12 car transporter.
He regularly brings my Noble and Merc back and forth and specialises in low sport cars.
His name is Steve, he charges 575 pounds per car one way..
Drop me an email and I will pass you his mobile number

Craig,

Got it, many thanks. My brother-in-law who used to live in Costa Blanca region said his neighbour had used him some time ago and he was on my list to be checked out!

Brilliant to get a couple of endorsements so I'll be using him.

They quoted me £750 + VAT Exeter to Estepona. That seems to be the going rate with some skipping VAT for cash.

Its usually around £650-£750 each way but it depends how full the transporter is and where it is going with how many cars.Dont be frightened to haggle.

Just picking up on this I'm looking into the same with 7 or 8 cars on one transporter from uk to northern Spain in mid September, returning a week later. Wondering if is can be done more cheaply (including flights) rather than us all taking the cars individually on the ferry....any recommendations?

Thanks

As above, I'm sure he will do u a good deal on them all.
After taking into account the petrol cost and ferry cost,
I have found it to be much cheaper to transport them .
But of course that will depend on the time of year and how advanced u have booked your flight tickets?
They seem to fluctuate from 30 pounds one way to 200 , so book in advance and you will save a lot of money

I lived in Madrid with x2 British cars which I took back each year for an MoT so I have tried transporting and driving.

I would highly recommend driving as the transport company I used for my TVR didn't treat my car with care, reports of wheel spinning from cold while loading and broke the fob.

The drive would be great and the ferry to North Spain is ok.

While your down in Spain I would recommend you go to the Circuit at Guadix http://www.circuitodeguadix.com and/or tag on to a tour for a few days run by Drive Espania https://www.driveespana.com

I finally decided to use BookaTrack's covered transporter service at £1,495. I drop the car off near Oxford, they ship it to Estoril, I take it on track, they then ship it to Portimao, on track again, then on to Jerez for the third trackday, they then ship it back to UK. So I have very few road miles on car and transport by a very safe and convenient method.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Hi Sundance,
Any chance of sending me this guy's details please? I'm trying to get a couple of classic Mercs to Elche/ALC area and would rather have a first hand recommendation than take a flyer on it on Google. Thanks in advance.
Mark.
