Anyone planning on attending the Superdeportivos Cantabria event in Santander in May? If you haven't heard of it, it's a big supercar party with over 200 cars in attendance, with a big car show on Saturday, and drives planned for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Details may be found here:
http://www.superdeportivoscantabria.com/

and a short video for this year that gives an idea of the cars in attendance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkzQAfUoDFE. If you search on YouTube you can find many videos of previous years.

There will be a médium sized caravan of cars coming from England who have attended in the past and will be returning - Jasper's TVR can be seen in the above video, and some friends of mine will be returning this year in their McLaren.

There are a couple of options - either book the trip directly, or Drive España has a tour organized that includes the SDC event. Their website is http://www.driveespana.com/

Note that I have no financial interest in any of the organizations mentioned - just making sure that people are aware of the event and their options. I live in Spain and will be there in my DeTomaso, and have attended for the past 6 years so I'm happy to answer questions if I can.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info,
Might take a trip up from Sotogrande in my Noble M400, make a change to meet some new petrol heads

Would be great - you'd have the only Noble at the event!

Last year a small group of TVR's came over (and will be repeating this year, from what I've Heard) and made quite a splash. There's lots of Ferrari/Porsche, so it's nice to see something different, and especially something not seen in Spain very often.

Here's another video from the previous year - the first 2 minutes is bla-bla-bla, and then the remainder is a parade of cars.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiDzAcIBQbM

Let me know if you decide to attend and we'll make arrangements to meet up. Also note that if you go to the program in Spanish, you have many different options - from all meals included to basically only lunch on Saturday. I've asked the organization for a different plan, since Saturday's lunch is typically Spanish- starts at 3pm and finishes at 7pm. Going to a huge dinner a few hours after a huge lunch just seems like a waste, so I've asked for pricing without Saturday dinner and they told me no problem - they'll get back to me

Looks like a fun week end, some great looking cars, i noticed you have a Pantera, one of my Fav classic super cars, have always been tempted to buy one, was a picture on my wall as a teanager, a real muscle car.
Like you I live in Spain and will be driving down from Sotogrande.
My Noble is a little different, in the fact I run 700bhp 600ftlb torque and have 8 different cal, so will be great to get her on some good driving roads.
where in Spain are you?

Would love to see the car - 700 hp should move it along quite nicely! And as mentioned, surely you'll have the only one there.

Unfortunately we are rather far apart - I live in León, so somewhat of a hike. A few years ago it was quite hard to find car events in Spain, and I travelled regularly to Le Mans or Le Mans Classic to be able to see other cars, but in the past few years there are a number of car events that have been springing up around the country. I think that this Santander event was the inspiration for the rest, but there are now groups in Barcelona, Madrid, and Logroño that are quite active. I haven't attended those, but I do receive the invitations and see photos of the get togethers on Facebook, etc. I'm happy to see it because it gives you an exceuse to get the car out of the garage. The Price of petrol hasn't been this low in years so we need to take advantage of it! :-)

Snowing quite a bit in the north of Spain all weekend, so it's nice to think of warmer times... Here's a video they just released promoting the event this year:

Sounds like fun, but 1k kms is a bit of a stretch for me.

Sundance, I'm also in the Sotogrande area, and am always up for a spirited drive.

It is a long drive, but there will be some impressive hardware present.

At least 2 McLarens and a Koenigsegg have confirmed so far, coming over from England. Then again, considering the weather in England these days compared to the weather in southern Spain, I can understand why people are making plans to look for some sun!

My Caterham just arrived last week,
Minus its front calipers that hopefully arrive tomorrow, so will be ready for its first blat since the re build. It has a Honda K20 engine running 310bhp and am looking forward to a good test run so maybe the weekend would be a good time, if u Fancy a run.
We could meet in the port, maybe ke bar

I'll be down in Duquesa back end of April, if any runs are planned around that time.

The 23 and your Cat would be an epic blat over to Ronda, however it's safely tucked away in Malta with the Elan and Europa. I'd Bring the Exige along, however it would not be much of a match as I'm at the ~300bhp mark too, but with a decent amount of additional weight.

KE bar works for me I'll PM you my contact details.

Hi Yetski,

I believe I've seen your Gallardo around the port before (last year)?

Hi over steer

That'll be the one, really looking forward to getting back down, although I've just had an operation to pin my shoulder back in place so the driving might be slightly limited, although a bit of Spanish sunshine should cure the aches and pains. thumbup

Nothing a few days of sun/San Miguel therapy won't heal.

Feel free to ping me once you in the area, we could get a nice drive organised.

That's sounds like a plan, arriving 22nd, but getting Moto GP on the 24th, and the hangover to follow out of the way first.

Sundance (or others) - are you still planning on making the trip? When are you planning on arriving? I'm starting to coordinate with some friends of mine making the trip from England, reserving hotels, etc.

See you in a month?
