I know there's not a huge amount of people in this subforum but thought I would post up some information about the forthcoming regularity rally taking place in Marbella. I've just registered with a friend of mine and his 1971 Maserati Indy, neither of us have a clue what to do but it looks like fun! driving

Following the success of the BALATON CLASSiC and MiSTER CLASSiC and thanks to the Marbella Town Hall, the MCGP organisers have decided to spread their wings to Spain and arrange an exclusive one day open road race (Classic Regularity Rally), for classic, road-legal cars produced before 31st December 1980. There will be just 50 cars allowed to participate in the first edition of the race and entries will be reviewed by the Race Committee to ensure an exceptional selection of classic cars.

These events take place on public roads, adhering to the rules of the Highway Code and requires participants to complete sections in a predetermined time, as well as special stages requiring split second accuracy. These special stages are completed at slow speeds without stopping the car and penalty points given for every 0.01 second difference from the allotted completion time. The winner is the team with the fewest penalty points throughout the day and they will be presented with their awards at a prize giving ceremony and gala dinner.

The event is officially timed by internationally recognised sport judges ChronoMoto, the official timekeeping team of the FIA Rallycross European Championship.

You can register online at http://www.chronomoto.hu/online/mcgp/ (there's an Early Bird Discount till the 15th May)

More information can be found on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/marbellaclassicgrandprix. Routes and suggested spectator areas are being published soon so I’ll put that up when I receive the information.

The rally starts at 10am in Puerto Banus then heads out toward Fuengirola via La Mairena, it then heads over to San Pedro and stops for lunch at Villa Padierna. The afternoon starts from the hotel and takes a route through Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro, Marbella and finishes back in Puerto Banus at 17:30

Damn & blast, I leave that day frown

I've done quite a lot of this sort of stuff, if you want any tips just drop me a line. I'll be in Miraflores (near Mijas Costa/Calahonda) from tomorrow lunch until the morning of the rally.

If you want a beer and a chat through things that's no problem at all.

Has this been moved to November or is that a different rally?

Yup, kind of.. the proper full rally has now been moved to November due to some issues obtaining all the permits in time (no surprise there!). There is now just going to be a free demonstration day and short taster of regularity rallying on the same date from 4pm-8pm. One of the permits they did obtain was to close the road by El Corte Ingles opposite Plaza Antonio Banderas during this time so it makes sense to go ahead with an event.

It's now also been opened up to Modern Classics and Sportscars so come along if you can, just PM me your details and I can add you to the list

Oh bad luck gents, pain in the assholio.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Maz Indy though, love those cars, have been a bit smitten since I saw one in Tuscany the other year being thrashed through the countryside.

Thanks Andy,

I no longer have anything of interest to bring (unless a 99 E36 328i Convertible counts as a modern classic).

Will try and drag the wife and daughter along on saturday smile

Fantastic day, had a real blast. Absolutely no idea what we were doing, got lost and was still about 7 minutes too quick over a 20 minute run whistle I just had the Cannonball Run music playing in my head the whole time!
