I have the impression the Spanish may use a different online marketplace for cars than ebay. The French certainly do. Can anyone tell me what site the Spanish use?
Thanks
Bob

They use www.coches.net and http://www.segundamano.es/motor-de-segunda-mano/ and http://www.autoscout24.es/

Segundo mano means second hand, if that's what you want, or search for 'coches venta ocasion' and the province you are looking for a car in will list most dealers and private sales

Keeping well, Greg, but it's a long winter with no hillclimbing. The Van Diemen is in pieces and the bodywork is being painted but I have a serious hankering for a Renault Dauphine Gordini. Can't explain why. Ws bidding on one on ebay but it went for too much. Think I;ll look in Spain and France maybe. Then I'll hillclimb it :-)

As above coches.net (I've bought at least one car from there), segunadamano.com or milanuncios.com

Good luck. Buying a car in Spain seems like a pain.

It is if buying privately, you need an NIE number and to register the car sale with traffico, which a Gestor (solicitor, sort of) will do for you, it costs about 150€ to do this, plus you have to pay tax on the value of the car, its certainly not as easy as just sending off a V5.

If you buy from a dealer its not too bad as they will do the paperwork for you, you still need an NIE number though, which you have to get from the local ayuntamiento (town hall).

Hi Jazoli,
Thanks for the info. Do you know if this is true if the car is over ten years old?

Yes true for any age of car.
The only thing which changes when a car becomes ten years old is that the ITV (MOT) must be done every year instead of every two years.

You´ll pay through the nose in Spain for sure! Good luck though. We will want pictures of course! lick
