Nope - not a thread about trying to get out of it. Just want to know how to pay and if I can get the 50% reduction for paying within 20 days (when does the 20 days start? - with this notification or from the date of the fine).
My mother-in-law has received a letter to identify driver (which was me!) for her car, registered in Spain. To make things complicated, my wife and I have a flat in Spain, but neither are registered - we live mainly in Germany. So, if she identifies me with the German address, and I get the fine, am I eligible for the 50% reduction, or should I put our Spanish flat address? I assume points are not put on my license.
Again, I say I have no problem paying the fine, but want to be able to get the reduction for paying early like the good citizens of Spain.

Ouch! Was it an old U.K licence, or a two part one? The two part one is eu... It even has an eu flag on the plastic ID card.
Actually it was my Norwegian licence (used to live there). Never had a problem with it the previous 2 times I have been stopped over the last 14 years. I suppose I should have shown my passport instead of my residencia card when asked for ID. Have now applied for a Spanish driving licence.Must be a money raising campaign going on of late, as I have been stopped 3 times in 2 weeks recently.
Sorry for mini hijack OP, have you tried paying your fine on: www.dgt.es yet?

Oh! Bad luck! Can your MIL not pop into trafico and pay it?
Sorry not to have replied earlier - just back.Basically that's what we did - went into trafico and they photocopied my licence and I coughed up the 50% (150 euros) there and then. Expensive mistake, but much better than the 300 it could have been - and no points.
To el romeral: according to the EU commission's website, "if you move to another country, you can drive there with your current licence as long as it remains valid" Seems that you were wrong to get done for that.

Ah - just saw that your licence is non-EU.

I have to say though, giving Plodo your NIE for ID was a bit numpty! No offence intended, we all have those days...
I always make sure my U.K. licence hasn´t expired "yet" and I speak English to them, they´re too lazy to try to understand you, and let you go
They are on a money raising mission at the moment, as the thieves who call themselves the Gubberment have no money in the pot left to steal
The Policia local here have resorted to hiding behind bushes near "stop" signs, and radioing ahead to their chums parked further up the road, when the unsuspecting don´t actually stop stop. Unfortunately, 99% of the victims are tourists Talk about biting the hand that feeds!
I can´t actually see any benefit to being a resident at the moment. As an autonimo, all I get is raped every three months!
I couldn´t even get prescription drugs the other day. But that's another apathetic story.
Talking to a biker Pal in the pub last night.
He´s just had a 200€ fine for filtering up the inside of a line of cars at the junction of a roundabout on his bike. "Passing on the inside of a vehicle with insufficient room to pass"
I asked how it was possible to pass with insufficient room? He said there was 3 meters...
Is filtering illegal in Spain?

Howdoo KT?
So is that just passing along the inside of stationary vehicles, or is passing on the outside illegal too?
I would have thought passing on the outside is O.K. as long as you´re not crossing a solid line? After all, overtaking isn´t illegal
Sorry to sound like a numpty, but as you can see, I really don´t understand this filtering thing.
