Anyone else noticed how many used cars sold in Spain are advertised as being newer than they actually are? type
I have seen many that are sold as being 1 year newer, some 2 and this E39 BMW M5 (in link below) takes the biscuit at 3 years. It is advertised as being from June 2003 which would be one of the last E39 models?
The front & rear lights, steering wheel, sat nav and dials make this a pre facelift model which ceased production in 2000. The registration plate (6542CBV) is from 2003, but is most likely due to being re registered, as you can do this without having to keep to the original year.
At 15000E it is not cheap for what it is eek.

How I long for the quality of the car adverts found in the UK with great cars, realistic prices, quality photos, informative descriptions (rather than a list of standard features) and people who respond when you make enquiries phone.

Having lived in Spain for 25yrs, buying a second hand car would not be an option, as:-
A,there are not any garages that I can think of who you would believe the sale advert.
B, Spaniards are not the sort who look after their cars, for servicing, tyres, brakes etc.

I have only ever bought new there.

Yes, cars here are very much bought to get from A to B with lots of bashing, thrashing, scuffing and no servicing or repairs. When they break they are thrown away and another bought.

I have looked into importing something interesting, and may do this when the time comes. Despite the crisis, the used car prices are still high. The main problem is an almost total lack of good independent garages who could properly service a performance car.

I wouldn't buy another used Spanish car. Ever.
They're treated like white goods.
I bought a used car when I first came here, but never again. Overpriced, and no history.
I've since bought two new Navaras. The first got T-boned by a spikey haired yoof in a Golf who didn't give way, at a give way.
That was badly repaired, and IMO should have been written off, so I moved it on privately to a fellow who knew it's history, and bought another new one from the same dealer.
After 4 years, I took it back to the dealer I bought the two cars from, but he offered me €7,500 for it against another new one at €32,000.
It was mint! I walked, and I hope the greedy bds all go skint.

I've bought a 2007 Mini Cooper Convertible which had done 30,000km but had never had a service !! Paid €12,800 which is alot more than you would pay in the UK for a mint example. Been a good buy but buyer beware !!
