Insuring a foreign car in Spain?
Discussion
Can anyone help. I drove my car down in 2006 and had no problems with extended European policy for 6 months but this year not a hope all I get is "insure it in Spain". I will be over for 6 months so don't want to import it etc. I am coming from Ireland over to Ibiza in April. Can anyone give me any advice. Thanks

Sadly they don't cover cars coming from Ireland so will just have to keep searching. Thanks anyway.
How will you get it legally tested for your Spanish Insurance to be valid, without a British MOT or a Spanish IVA, Insurance companies cannot give you a valid Certificate.I lived in Spain for 25yrs and on Ibiza for 3 years,I used to watch the Guardia regularly have checks on foreign plated cars to check both your Isurance and MOT/IVA and without either your car will be impounded you will be fined and your car will be uninsurable and certainly not useable in Spain at all until these points are addressed.
They will catch you and stop you guaranteed on a foreign plate ask any local of any nationality.
