Car Transport Spain to UK and back
Discussion
I need to move my car(s) between Manchester and Gibraltar several times a year and wonder if anybody has a had good experiences with this?
I used to use a bunch of people who every trip devised new and amazing ways of screwing up. The only reason I put up with this was that I thought others would be worse (not possible)
Here are typical events from my diary
"Today our car is due from England and I know that it will be a big screw up. How they will screw up I have no idea but I know that they will.
For days we have been asking for progress and they assure us that they will ring us in good time. They don't. Then at 9.15am the phone rings and they tell me that the car is in La Linea "50 meters to the right when you go over the frontera". We agree to be there by 10.30am but when we get to the "frontera" at 10.00am there is no sign of our car. After a couple of phone calls we discover that it is on a huge transporter (we were expecing it to be driven by a man) so it is hardly surprising that the police have moved him on.
So where has he parked? Yup - in the Customs area which means that the Customs are now absolutely fascinated with our car and will not let us move it without paperwork, which, thank God, we have with us. This is like going into the Gestapo offices to get out of the rain when you are carrying a radio transmitter. aholes. "
or
"We are waiting for a man to fetch our car and take it back to the UK. I know this is going to be a giant cock-up so we steel ourselves by walking round the Allameda Gardens.
At one point, a gardener shouts something at us and gestures. While we are wondering what he is going on about, we are hit with jets of water from the sprinkler system. Right.
The firm of idiots who are transporting our car say they will pick it up at MacDonalds. Fair enough. Then the man who is actually fetching it rings me and asks me where to meet. And which town. Who would have thought there were three MacDonalds in La Linea? And huge traffic jams. "
and so on ...

I know where you're coming from. I lived and worked in and around Gib in the early 90's for a few years.
It's no different now I live in Mallorca.
At the moment I'm on a wild goose chase to get a parcel delivered from the States.
I've paid for delivery, but I'm having to deal with the importation myself. Eh?
Anyway, done the U.K. Gib, Gib U.K. trip dozens of times. I used to enjoy it.
Why don't you drive the car yourself?

Not sure if you've solved this but call Kevin at Premier Fleet Services. Cracking bloke and they take their work very seriously - they move a lot of cars and bikes between the UK and Spain.
