How is this possible?

A Guy rents a house in my street, and turns up with one of those huge Dodge Ram pick-up trucks, all sign written with "Mad Max" buggy/quad rental all over it, and a mobile phone number.
Then two of those tube frame buggies appear, and I see the Guy setting them up every morning to be towed on one of those towing dollies (are they legal in Spain?
)
Billboard advertising appears in several prominent places around the Port.
I take a walk over one morning, out of interest, and try to spark up some petrol head conversation.
Eastern european man seems very uninterested in banter, and exclaims "No speak Espanol, oh! English? "No English" Mmmm....how the hell are you going to run a rental business in Mallorca, with no English or Spanish?
Then two more buggies turn up.
Then I see them parked around the Port with big "Rent Me" signs on the back.
Then there's a shop on the main drag into the Port, with half a dozen parked in front, and several parked in the streets around the port, and also two on the Guys drive.
Crikey! Expanding fast!
Except.......
wait for it......
Every single vehicle,
is on Polish plates?????
Considering Spain is in the deep and smelly finacialy, and it's turning into a Police state, with Multa's up the ying yang, is it just me, or does this look like a big fat envelope on the right desk at the local town hall?

Exactly! It's also illegal to run any business with a foreign plated vehicle.

Another fellow, a German chap, had a gritblasting business, he towed his compressor with his German plated G wagon. The Guardia pounced on him and shut him down. (He was good too :-( )
These Guys have been running all summer so far.

My wife also has a contact here, as she worked for them as a translator.
He gave us advice regarding the situation I found myself in with the denuncia.
Are you suggesting I grass the Guy up? Not my style. I'm waiting, and watching with interest to see what happens.

I wonder what the situation would be if they have to make an insurance claim.

No I wasn't suggesting you grass him up, but he would be able to tell you of any loopholes in the law which these guys use,as there must be some loophole otherwise they couldn't possibly run such a huge business from what you say and get away with it.My wife also has a contact here, as she worked for them as a translator.

Possible that there applications are in with a Gestor and you know how long things in Spain take,especially a Polish one Ha Ha.

But I wouldn't have thought they could rent them out to Joe public untill the cars had been imported and put on the Spanish plates.
If they get them on Spanish plates, there's hope for my Caterham!

Mind you when they aren't very friendly I always worry after what happened next door to me when I was in Estepona.Although as I said, he didn't seem very friendly when I tried to strike up a conversation about the buggies.

I rode out on my Harley one day and as I was riding up my road I noticed 2 Fat Boys in a house 3 doors up from me, so as a H-D rider I stopped to have a chat and they weren't interested, heavies for something so I rode on.
Two days later the safe in the house was towed through the wall of the house and up the road and away.
That why they didn't want to speak to me, so when anyone is like that these days I just leave them alone as for sure as eggs are eggs they are trouble.
Anyway hope that they are not, have a good weekend, here it's the "Round the Island Race" and it should be a good blow for those that can sail, Cowes looks pretty packed this evening, must get down to Ryde sands to see who gets caught out tomorrow as low tide at Ryde is about 2pm so should be interesting, now that the banks have moved.
I'm watching with interest...........
And of course I'll stay away from the Mafia..... I have enough bloody chew as it is.

In the meantime, I'll be sweating my nuts of over the weekend, getting the plastic fantastic chinese takaway ready for Boss's arrival on Sunday, which is forcast for rain.
There's a Sirocco blowing now, so for sure the rain will be red
probalbly for 10 minutes, half an hour before they arrive.
And of course I'll stay away from the Mafia..... I have enough bloody chew as it is.

Came for the season, made (or laundered) some money, and left.
They where very busy too.

I still think it would have been interesting if someone had had an accident in one, how the insurance claim would have gone.
They didn't look very safe, what suspension damping there was, was all over the place! I'd seen them around a lot, lurching and clunking around the pot hole strewn roads we now have here.
Also I find interesting another operation opened up doing exactly the same thing, just around the corner, but those where on Spanish plates.
I recon they must register them as a quad.
If the Spanish registered buggies are up and running again next season, I saunter by and try and get some info.
Hope all you had a good season, looking forward to the winter myself, so I can get some more done on my projects

Glad to hear that all is well with you in the Islands, here still in the middle of the house refurb but better quality than Spain LOL
Garage just finished except the flooring so now have somewhere for the toys ( have just posted on the Home & Gardens under Garages.
Have a good winter and may see you over here next year ?

Ooh! A garage thread! How about a link? I couldn't find it.
I have 45 meters of the blocks up for my wall now (Finally got the licence from the town hall after 3 1/2 months) 30 more meters to go to close my garden in.
Then I'll be opening up into the rear plot, to where I'm going to build my toy shed
Turned chilly here yesterday, chucked it down gotas frias last night, and flooded the port as usual.
And they're showing snow in Spain on the news again.
Hapens every winter, I can't figure out why they haven't figured out it isn't news anymore.
Well I was planning to get over next month, but my enthusiasm is waning.
I'm happy to potter around at home.
