I wouldn't be against it. Unlike the launch of the original car the timing, this time, is perfect.

Well done Lotus. It's simply too good to be overlooked now.

And what a fascinating comparison it now makes to the car that always made the standard Evora seem expensive, the (now £10k more) Nissan GTR.

I can't wait to take mine to the nurburgring. A sport 350 Esprit rode the curbs better than any car I've ever driven round there. I think this will be even better.

Aargh, I wasn't "quite" sold on the Evora in standard form, so sold the Exige S and shelled out similar money on a used GT3 - I wished I had waited a while now ?

However I actually think that the standard car will be better appreciated now too. ie the same astonishing ability on the bendy bits and exquisite steering but even lighter kerb weight and more than adequate performance. The timing of the original car's launch was terrible in terms of the economic situation. Whereas the timing of the S is much better. It's not that the S is massively better but the timing is and that's why I think we'll be seeing a few more Evoras on the roads next year. To be honest with a base price of under £50k, the standard Evora is looking like a steal now. At the time everyone was comparing it to the elise/exige whereas now the prices of fast cars have rocketed. Nissan GTR is now £70k, a Cayman S can be specced up to over £80k! and the 458/Gallardo class is now around £200k. North of £50k was not long ago considered fairly serious money for a sports car, quite rightly, now it's just the cost of a few extras.

Given the gearbox and quality improvements are now available on the standard car it actually makes a very compelling case for itself.

the gt3 isnt my cup of tea but everyone raves about them so you probably won't get much sympathy on here. Besides I imagine an Evora RS is in the pipeline with more power and less weight so you might end up having the last laugh.
