Autocar (which would be better renamed Lotus Weekly) says Evora is best handling car (and secondhand Elise is best in their other test).
Not really a surprise, eh?
Well, it's not as if Lotus have paid for the coverage and it appears that there are very few publications who disagree about the handling. The current issue of Top Gear also praises the handling, even when tested against some very expensive exotica (though they do say it needs more power!).Not really a surprise, eh?
Are you suggesting they're all wrong? Have you driven an Evora?
I have to say, i don't think there's a better handling car out there than the Evora, save possibly an Elise.
In another recent test though i see that the Cayman S was the preferred car overall.
I am truly delighted though that Lotus has reminded the world that the key to truly great handling is to not have a rock hard ride. I do hope everyone will take note, 'cos i think the sporting automotive world has taken a few steps back in recent years.

All the Evora road tests have been very consistant, praising ride, handling, steering, suspension etc. very highly. Autocars result is no surprise at all -the verdict is pretty much unanimous across all testers, all magazines, all web sites and across the world. Its not just patriotic!
Why is it hard for some people to accept the fundamental rightnness of Lotus' engineering capabilities, working wonders with a fraction of the budget the big manufacturers have. Take the latest Evo magazine and their '100 best drivers cars' feature. The Esprit V8, Evora, Elise and Exige are all up at the sharp end and if proof were needed their Top 10 features the 340R and the ORIGINAL Elan. A 30 year old car comes fourth and the 340R comes second, beaten only by the Pagani Zonda F. The Porsche 911 comes third!
We should rejoice that that a UK company, true to its founders philosophies, is so well respected.

Autocar subject the Evora to a full test in this weeks issue -

4 out 5 stars. No surprises really.

I get the feeling a lot of people don't appreciate that headline figures mean nothing and a truly great driver's car is about getting all the elements in balance. Although for a forum supposedly full of driving enthusiasts that's rather worrying.
I wonder if that's why I'm increasingly thinking about 'dipping out' and getting a nice old Elan, I was inspired after the Jay Leno clip and have been drooling ever since, bit difficult to get test drives though...Gassing Station | Evora | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
