Lotus Roadshow.
This Saturday morning I thought I might try and get the insects cleaned off the front of my Exige... having taken a deep breath and gone to Spa for the first time... learning curve about the same shape as Eau Rouge... The Lotus Roadshow was in town, however. I was dragged down to Lovetts, a bit reluctantly 'cos I had work to do.
We saw there the full Lotus current offering laid out; delicious.. I made it quite clear that in no way was I a likely Evora customer . Nevertheless, the keys of a yellow Evora were given to me, and I was asked where I lived. Locally! My favourite route was suggested. We joked about getting cow s**t(!!!!) on the car , and ended up sitting at a X roads watching our black and white steak providers ambling by. I found that I was talking, in the passenger seat, to the very mechanic who looks after my Exige ; he knew my car, but, more than that, his depth of true petrolheadedness became apparrent as we chatted, as the milk laden ladies went by, we discussed cabbages and kings. Much has been expected of the Evora... I'm used to Elise/Exige and this is clearly aimed at a different market. But what can I say!! I am used to being catapullted forwards; this subtely 'pushes' you to just the same place,I am not familiar however with just the sublime way in which this car changes direction; it's familiar in the Elise/Exige, but...I think there really is something new and better here, I hope likely to feed down to future Elise/Exiges....on the other hand, many will still prefer the rawer feel..I'm sure that will be with us soon enough in subsequent versions. Brilliant and very unexpeced Sat afternoon!!! The insects remain unremoved from the Zige post Spa...and Goodwood GRRC Ladies only trackday next event.... yes.... I qualify for that event.
