New car quandry

Ok so I have never been that interested in cars. Japanese plastic bikes are my favourite method of transport though I'm not a natural biker. It's the acceleration and the buzz I like.
But when our daughter came along, I sold my Blade and haven't ridden in the 9 years since (the wife won't let me - it's too dangerous and I see her point).

The daughter's named Elise, which was certainly inspired by the documentary on the Elise which I think is a beautiful car. I'm really into the Lotus thing. Whatever that is.
I think cars though are generally boring. I hate sitting in traffic (that's the biker in me).
We have a bright red 53 Ford Mondeo Estate Ghia-X TDCI. Practical but boring.
And the wife has a Y reg Hyundai Coupe. Bright red. Fiesta performance but nice styling.

I do the school run - 5 miles each way twice a day, and a few chores round town. And the occasional evening meal out with the wife. And the very occasional long distance trip, usually in the estate filled with gear. I avoid going anywhere because I hate driving.
I hope a nice car will make driving enjoyable for me like a nice bike did.

We work from home and have quite a successful business. After 10 years of hard slog and no big treats, I want to spoil myself with a nice car.
The Lambo Guillardo is my favourite looking car on the road at the moment but it's well out of my price range.

I must say I'm really tempted by the Evora despite never having seen one in the flesh.
I would ideally like a 2+2 to fit the kids (aged 7 and 9) in.
I'm 6 foot 2 and 22 stones, so I think an Elise or Exige are perhaps not suitable.
Though again, I have never sat in either. The nearest dealer is an hour away.

I really like the look of the Evora from the photos. It looks awesome.
And I was tempted by the 2+2 set up and to be honest I would ideally like a 2+2 to take the kids. Though I'm concerned that the space in the back will be too cramped for them already.
They fit in the Hyundai ok.

I thought that the optional extras on a new car were effectively a waste of money when it came to selling on later since they didn't bump the price up by what was paid for them.
That's why I had got the tech pack in mind (music in the car is very important plus sat nav and rear parking sensors) and standard ardent red would probably be my favourite colour anyway. Wise choice?

So if the Evora isn't the car for me, what might be?

I think a test drive is a must-do. But I didn't think the Evora was out until next year. I was a bit surprised that it's out now. I haven't had chance to save up, yet.

Although colours are a personal thing, you would be better to consider alternative colours. Ardent Red is a very nice colour it seems to show the lines of the car very well.

I would recommend strongly a drive in the car, as the car is every much a Lotus, but with a GT feel.

I had a sit in some Elises today at Peter Smith Sports Cars and I couldn't get comfortable in any of the seat varieties. I'm too big. They all physically hurt unless I slouched back so my backside was near the end of the seat.
Are there any common alternative (read wider) seats on the market?

The Evora was nice. Looked lovely and felt comfortable. Loads better for me than the Elise and 99% as good looking. Going to take the family up soon to see if the kids fit in the back.
