Evora 430 v 911 GT3

Just wondered if anyone had read the review in this months EVO Magazine.

Slightly predictably It was 5 stars to 4.5 in favour of the Porker, partly because (IMHO) I feel that EVO generally favours our friends from Stuttgart and partly because in this case the GT3 is that good and probably the slightly better car of the two.
I did find myself thinking though, is the GT3 really an 111k car?
The whole Porsche GT thing in my view is such that for all but the chosen few they are unobtainable and will be sold with around 15k - 20k worth of extra with the sole intention of being flipped either straight away or in a few years and either way, will then find themselves at their true market price of 175k - 200k.
I realise the journo's can only review based on what they have to work with, but has it now effectively got to a stage where the original list price of these cars is irrelevant for comparison purposes?

Is any car worth more than £125k? It`s simply market forces at work...demand (greed in some cases) versus supply (people with too much money in some cases).
I do not think anyone would disagree that there are certain elements of a Porsche which are far better than a Lotus...mostly interior related...and in the case of the 911 it has been in production in various guises for donkeys years and is continually being developed, whereas the Evora is 9 years old now and has had a relatively small amount of development since then. However, the Evora started out with a fundamentally excellent platform.
Simple maths says 4.5 stars for the Evora and 5 for the GT3...so 5/4.5 = 1.111. So what can you get a GT3 for?...£150k (if you are lucky)/1.111 = £135k, so therefore the Evora is undervalued...or in reality both cars are over valued due to market forces and the car companies trying to make a profit. At the end of the day, if people are prepared to pay £125k, then the car is worth it.
Also, before you knock and Evora, you should try driving one...

Yes.But it depends what you want from a car.
Like a bottle of wine, pricing is all relative depending on quality and how much enjoyment you get from a particular vintage.
As with all recent GT Porsches the GT3 for the UK market (which is unique) is deliberately underpriced and of restricted supply. (c250 UK cars)
This largely creates the premiums.
Then there is the outstanding pedigree of the car and it's fantastic abilities which adds further value.
One could argue that the bottom rung entry level Mclarens provide an equivalent driving experience at the money. But imo for an enthusiast these cars offer less as an overall package and in a few years time their residual value will show clearly they were overpriced when new.

An Evora is not a Porker, so gets my vote on exclusivity. I saw a demo car being photographed last week, have never seen a Porsche thus.
IMHO a Porsche comes into its own at lose yer licence speeds, the Evora with the exhaust valve open is always fun legallyish.
Porsche is German, Lotus is based in UK.
I have only driven the new base Evora, and if it had a little more power I would get one now, unfortunately I can't afford the more powerful lighter ones.
When I can, I'd either get the Evora and put my kids through college or buy the Porsche, but will probably be more concerned about the price of colostemy bags by then.

You can buy an Evora 400 and take it to Hangar 111 and have a remap to 430hp...totally transforms the car and gives it the kick it lacks (oh yes and it improves the economy if you are being sensible). Of course, it is now a seriously fast licence losing car...although in many ways it was before!
