Evora reliability

what with all the glowing reviews of the 400, and glowing owners' reviews of all the evoras, I test drove the 400 and absolutely loved it. However, I have one big concern regarding the reliability of evoras. What has people's experiences been like in this respect? And to be clear, by reliability, I don't mean the electric mirrors stopped working, I mean the more serious problems like non-starting cars, engine troubles etc. I ask as if I do take the plunge, it will be my only car, and I have to be able to rely on it. Ie. I need to be able to park it at the airport for a week's holiday safe in the knowledge that it will actually work when I get back.

Mine is my daily driver, it has 70k miles on the clock and no issues with reliability at all. It lives outside, starts first time (although the battery is getting on a bit)
I expect I might need a new clutch soon, but I have been thinking that for the last 40k miles.
The car has a couple of niggles, but the only failure so far was the drivers door lock, a common issue on early cars.
The engines and boxes are Toyota and don't have a history of failing, some cars have aircon compressors failing but that is the exception rather than the rule.
In summary, they are great everyday cars, you just have to choose parking spaces that allow you to open the door properly.

I`m on my 3rd Evora over the last 4 years, plus a V6 Exige for the last 2.5 years, which uses much the same set up, and other than some minor glitches, they have always started and got me home. Like most cars, the more you use them the more reliable they become...oh yes, and I have had the Komotec upgrades done on two of the cars just to upset all the good work that Lotus have done!
I have put 4K on mine since November and just came back from a trip to the ring. I have had no issues at all with the car. Like you I was worried about reliability but that seems to be a myth. Of course some cars have issues but so do all manufacturers. Overall they seem to be very reliable cars to own.

The Evora has the same engine as Lexus cars. Lexus cars consistently rank at the top of reliability surveys. I therefore would not expect many issues with the Evora engine. If things were going to go wrong it would be the Lotus specific parts.
FWIW, the engine is actually originally from a Toyota Camry. Lotus choose not to install the (slightly more advanced) Lexus variant.But either way, it's still the same Toyota/Lexus reliability.
I've had my 400 since May, put 6,000 miles on it. There are a number of (well-documented) niggles and issues with it, but none of them are even close to Journey-stopping problems.
I did a large amount of research and beyond an early (ie. 2009) batch of clutches that weren't great, it seems they are very reliable cars. As others have pointed out the major items are of Toyota origin, the warranty issues with those are very few and far between. I have not heard of an Evora engine breaking. Not to say it hasn't happened, but I don't know of one.
I often get asked about it's suitability for use and my answer is generally if a 911 or an R8 would suit your needs, so will an Evora.

Like Blue G33, I never had any issue with cruise. Seat bolsters did wear prematurely and a few minor interior trim issues but hardly show stopping. Smaller issues like a few plastic clips nit quite sitting right (the cover for the fuse box would regularly be found on the rear seat or floor), the additional 12v socket in the boot was rusty and would therefore work sporadically if I left a phone charging etc. All very small issues and generally felt a well put together car. Certainly nothing like experiences of old with both Lotus and TVR - product was a very large step closer to ze German level of build quality.
I have had my 400 since Sept last year. We are 10,000 miles down. It has been used as a daily driver for some pretty mundane tasks, as well as some reasonable trips to parts of the UK. No significant issues have arisen and mine was (I think) in the first batch of 48 manufactured. A few niggles have arisen, like the alarms on the early cars had a very small wiring issue meaning they would go off randomly, but these, to my knowledge have all been sorted now.
Given its a brand new car, I think its pretty remarkable that any issues have been so minor.

Unfortunately I had problems with a 2013 IPS model which jammed in gear on numerous occasions and had to be recovered 3 times. It seemed to be a software problem but neither the dealer or Lotus could fix it. I wasn't impressed with the IPS anyway and got rid of the car and now run a manual. I've not heard of anyone else having a similar problem but it really 'tested' by Lotus loyalty.
