Power delivery on N/A compared to Exige S
Discussion
Hi Guys
Anyone made a similar change ? am a little concerned with only 276bhp it might feel a little underpowered.
I know I have made my mind up on an Evora and am going to sell the Exige I just do not want to regret buying the N/a when I should have waited for a S?
Any advice appreciated
Thanks
Paza

Not quite the same switch, but similar.
Stage 2 Supercharged VX220 (260bhp and 870kg) to a 2010 Evora NA.
In the brief time I've had the car I miss the noise of the SC, but the Evora is plenty quick enough I could never use the SCVX at it's limits on the roads.
On track? We'll see soon, but that's where I expect the biggest differences are.

I went from 260 hp very track focused Europa to Evora NA.
Evora not quite as quick 0 - 60, turn in not quite (Europa on nitrons and A048s), in all other areas the Evora is miles and miles better. I have had the car for 2 years now and never fails to impress. I sometimes think about getting an S but can really see no reason to. On give and take country roads the NA is so much fun. Remember the NA won COTY in most magazines.

Probably depends on what you want I have a NA ever and an R400 the R400 will hurl you to another dimension, but the Evora is so much more its precision steering the car is faster than you can drive legally or otherwise on the road. Thanks for the comments guys
Well the Exige is a little tweaked and running 320bhp so a bit insane , but can not use it half the time. With a 10k difference in price is just weighting whether the S is worth it. I was in my mates Cayman R the other day and that felt quick enough so hoping for a simlar experience as that really. Was set to view one today but things got put off until next week now

Just go and try a NA its quick, it also uses slightly less fuel and is a little less on the road tax both are great cars Well the Exige is a little tweaked and running 320bhp so a bit insane , but can not use it half the time. Having had a LE n/a and currently a S IPS there is very little difference in journey times on public roads , however the S is more flexible in so much as the pick up is better in a higher gear .
Fuel consumption is very similar .
I expect the difference on the track is more noticeable .
Usual problem if you want to buy one , just find a good car almost regardless of spec .

For me you cannot have enough power and I am upgrading my S to 430hp even though you cannot really use it on the road, except for overtaking, where the extra torque comes into play.
At lower road speeds there will not be so much in it...
You can fairly simply fit a Radium cold air intake and a lighter and better sounding silencer which will take you nearer to 300hp, and this would probably be a very good compromise.

I used to have an Exige S 260 which was great on track but almost too quick on the road. My Evora is NA IPS and is plenty fast enough on the road. I have driven an Evora S quite a few times and although the extra torque is great, I don't feel I need anymore power, until I try the 400 of course as mine will be 3 years old in October so might look at a change.
Thanks Stevebe,
Good comparison post as the performance would be quite similar, my 320 is an awesome car just a tad hardcore for me now. I think am not prepared to pay the extra for the S when every post I seem to read suggest the same thing regarding the N/a vs S debate.
Well gents if anyone is think of selling (would love a orange or yellow one) drop me a pm

I moved from a 250bhp supercharged Exige to an NA Evora.
It doesn't feel as mental off the mark, or in the twisties (Exige was running on low Ohlins too). The Evora is no slouch and has far more torque that comes in to play but the brutal acceleration isn't there - no surprise just by looking at the power/weight.
That being said, there is also a degree of perception that goes with it. The Evora carries its speed much more gracefully and the damping is so good that it masks its pace a lot more than the Exige which was the total opposite on that front. It's only when you take note of the speedo that you realise the pace of the Evora, it doesn't feel anywhere near as quick in my view, but real world A>B I think there would probably be little in it.

I've only somehow just noticed (after following the Evora since before launch) that the N/A torque level is actually pretty respectable at 258 lbs/ft next to its 276 BHP. The S has quite a bit more power at 345 BHP, but the torque is only up just under 40 to 295 lbs/ft. I know numbers never tell the whole story, especially in a car like this, but it now makes a little more sense that many people don't feel so short changed in acceleration, maybe especially so with the CR gearbox. I've been looking at Evoras for a long time, but always thought I'd have to go for an S having driven one (no experience of an N/A, but may have to try one). Now for a DD, I'm not quite so sure I couldn't happily live with an N/A, at least for a while
Edit: I now notice that the Evora 400 only has 302 lbs/ft of torque - to all intents and purposes relatively unchanged from the 295 of previous S. So it's all down to using the gearbox I suppose. Don't know much about forced induction, but supercharging generally allows greater torque doesn't it? Are they protecting the gearbox by keeping torque contained I wonder? Just idle thoughts.

I haven't driven an Exige but have driven Evora and S. As long as you have the sport pack and the button pressed, the NA car is plenty quick enough. the S certainly has an added element of shove, but it isn't a different proposition entirely. My wish list is n/a with sport and reverse camera and back seats.

I agree on the Evora insofar as the suoercharged one isn't a different proposition. However, on the exige it's a different kettle of fish. The difference between the NA car and the SC car is vast, IMO.
100% this...good old power-to-weight i sposeI was surprised, when i was shopping for my evora, that the biggest change (in obvious 'it immediately feels quicker') was from an N/A to an N/A with the CR box, rather than from that to the S...
My opinion is to have a MY12 car , good pedigree . N/A or S is secondary , the N/A is able to have an upgrade to 300 bhp which leaves is a little short of the S. N/A needs the c/r box . Based on having a LE Evora and a S IPS . However the IPS is my gearbox of choice , suits my motoring requirements .
Just buy any Evora , I think you will not be disappointed !
