impressively stupid questions

Hi Guys,
Couple of stupid questions I've failed to find an answer to myself
1. The interior light (in the roof). Can you turn it on yourself? nothing i do to the centre switch will make it come on.
2. The bluetooth has turned itself off on the alpine system. I can go into setup and find a box with 'bluetooth enabled' written on it and the checkbox unchecked. Nothing I do seems to then actually do anything and I can't turn it back on.....so how do i?
3. how stupid am i?!

1) the switch should work like every other car I've tried. 3 positions; off, on, and auto. If you can't turn it on, there's obviously a problem. Does it come on when the door's open? Do the lights in the footwells work when the doors are open? Does the ambient light strip across the dash and doors come on at all?
2) I get this a lot. The Alpine unit is a pile of crap, really. You probably need to reset it. If you have an early model Evora, you'll have a separate "Blackbird" GPS unit. Eject that, and press the reset button on it. I think it's best to switch it off before re-inserting it into the head unit.
It's been suggested that the problem might occur if you start the engine while the bluetooth is attempting to pair with a phone. Apparently it's best to start the engine immediately after inserting the ignition key.

thanks v v much for the info on the, yes, utterly balls Alpine unit. will do that and same re; starting to try and avoid it happening again. It does look a bit like something from the late 90s. surely someone should do a tablet-quality thing by now?!
