ha ha, finally after 6 months of ownership I get a chance to play with the Evora in the wet on the way to work this morning. On the country lanes the grip level was quite low but the car is so much fun. I kept the sports mode off (softer throttle response and tighter TC is a classic race car setup for wet so see no reason why it wont work on the Lotus) and the car is a right hoot. On corner exits you can feed a load of right foot in and even at high speed when the oversteer comes it is a lovely predictable slide. It actually made getting up early and going to work this morning worth while!

looking forwards to a wet winter

Hi, just wondering here how the electronic diff compares to a traditional limited slip diff.
Do you feel it's as good and predictable as an lsd or a compromise?

When I first got the car I could feel the diff stabilising the car under braking quite a lot. On acceleration it just stops the inside single wheel spin (which my Esprits always seemed to suffer with) but to tell the truth it is difficult for me to seperate out the action of the diff and the TC. I put a LSD in a 7 years ago and that was very easy to power slide, my Evora is an NA do don't really have the power to weight ratio to fully exploit it.

cheers

I drove mine through lots and lots of lovely wet weather yesterday, flooding and slippy roads.

Grip = fine.

you lucky man. I was on one of the other Lotus forums this morning and found myself pitying all the Evora owners based out in California for they will never know the joy of a wet road. Give me a wet and grey Midlands every time..

First weekend I got mine, I took it down to the Oregon coastline from Seattle (5 hours drive each way). Absolutely pissed it down on the way back, the kind of rain that leaves 5cm of standing water after 5 minutes of rain. The Evora handled it amazingly well, so much confidence in the wet.

Even when it does break traction it lets go slowly and gives you a light tap on the wrist as to say "naughty naughty!" but never bites you in the ass. Love it.

Drove 50 miles last weekend in torrential rain, roads flooded, minimal visibility etc. and the car was superb. And boy was I thankful I wasn't going back in my Elise!!!

Having seen a few 'Elises' slide off the road recently I am even more glad to be in my Evora.

having spend about a month getting the Evora as sideways as possible at every chance I finally 'lost it' last night on a wet roundabout.

Went in too hot and TC could not save me (even with sports mode off).

Obviously with the colder roads the wet weather grip is down but one look at the rear tyres revealed the truth. If you want to have fun in the wet make sure your rear tyres are in reasonable nick.

cheers

Hope the car was unscathed? (And yourself, obviously) Had a couple of squirmy back end moments in my own today. Still getting used to it after a week and being thrown right in at the deep end weather wise, but I couldn't have waited until summer!

You should have seen it at Oulton park this afternoon, lol

I've never been to a track where it's lagging it down with rain at one side and bone dry on the other!

Caught a few out. I watched at least three cars leave the circuit, two loti and one MG

I decided I'd had enough fun in the morning so called it a day around 2:45

On the way home it looked like it had been snowing for an hour on the M56, three cars facing the wrong way near Sharston.

It was like driving through 6 inches of slush! I guess it must have been some pretty serious hale stone.

Never done a track day half dry and half wet. Done Donnington in the wet and that can be quite emotional...

No damage to me or the car during the spin thankfully but as a word of warning the Pirellis grip when the road are wet and cold and the tyres are worn is low...I splashed out on some new tyres on Saturday.

cheers

Yes, it was a bit 5p 50p that day. The Evora is pretty managable in those conditions though, I had a blast rotate
