Check out the headline from the short one on the latest issue of TG magazine regarding the new Alfa Romeo 4c

Class of it,s own ? It a blatant rip of of a Lotus ! Looks like a cross between an Evora and an Elise which I thought when AI first saw it at Goodwood 2 years ago.

I think they have forgotten that a certain Norfolk based company exists ? As they did with their Great Britain feature recently .

TBH, TG mag is like almost all other media, pure bks sells papers/magazines more than facts. What's the more interesting headline?:

Alfa makes a Lotus copy
Alfa 4C - in a class of its own!

You have to see TG for what it is, an entertainment mag/show based around cars and comedy. I watch 5th Gear now, its a far far far better programme for petrolheads than any other out there.

Clarkson said in the Times on Sunday that it was a brilliant but typical Alfa,...basically flawed because the chassis and steering were not as resolved as its "competition", but made no attempt to mention Lotus. I think Lotus`s marketing department are doing a rubbish job, and are probably not giving the support they should to journalists....maybe whence the lack of exposure. I read a quite negative write up in What car the other day between the Exige V6 roadster and the Boxster S. Basically the roadster got 2 stars whereas the Boxster got 5...surprise surprise, and many of the facts quoted were plainly wrong. If you read the same comparison in Evo, they are neck and neck, with obvious very different strength and weaknesses.

As said, the motoring press are there to sell, and facts are distorted for a number of reasons to create headlines.....

To be fair, What Car is a sensible magazine for sensible people, so in a sports car twin test the most sensible one is bound to win. The Boxster probably has a bigger boot and lower CO2. Did it conclude that you'd be better off with a diesel Golf?

I thought that about the Alfa too...blatant Lotus ripoff, especially back end and rear clam, boot area...so Evora. Very nice though as a result. Maybe Lotus had some input?
