Wasn't the best day to collect the new car as the largest rainfall ever seen in these parts must have fallen !

Initial impressions are positive even though we had to negotiate a few lakes on the A127 back to Southend .

Steering and handling are as expected up there with the best I have driven and I am looking forward to a few more nice dry days to explore the grip some more.

Only thing I have to get used to is how quiet it is ! Having come out of a Cerbera I know that would be a tough act to follow in terms of noise , but I will definitely be exploring the exhaust upgrades in the coming months.

Watch this space for more thoughts .....

Couple of questions for the seasoned Evora fanciers please :

Has anybody unlocked the passenger door and then found the handle doesn't open even though the silver plip is up ?

Is it normal for the Alpine screen to intermittently switch to sat nav mode or another screen on its own whilst using the radio and then back again ?

Look forward to meeting some of you soon

Cheers

Dazza

Looks good! What colour is it?

On your issues, the door pin issue is well known, and common. It will need the door card removed by the dealer and sorted. They work loose over time unfortunately.

The Sat Nav - on the screen click on the 'Visual' button and see which one is selected.. 'Normal' will keep it on which Source is selected, and 'Nav' will switch back to the NAV screen after 30seconds even is the source is set to RADIO/BT/IPOD etc.

Hope that makes sense..

On the TVR point, I felt the same, I absolutely loved the sound my T350 made with JP pipes, I don't think any car will come close! frown

Dazza, nice car

As Justin said its a re-work a minor job just get both doors sorted when you take it in, also as you have had heavy rain on the earlier models some (not all) experienced water ingress in the boot and the doors check the mats behind the seats and also any water in the boot, dont forget some water can drip in there when you open it and thats not the same.

Welcome to the Evora clan! thumbup

I am sure you'll love the car.

As others have said, the door pin issue is really common and easily sorted by a dealer.

I also found that mine was far too quiet. Having had two Caterhams before hand (both of which were fitted with throttle bodies and decat pipes) the Evora was effectively like sitting in a padded cell in comparison.

I think I lasted about two months with the standard noise level, at which point I had the rear Lotus Sports Exhaust (blue Titanium tipped) fitted which seemed to up the sound enough to subdue my noise cravings. However, soon after I became used to the sound and yet again I found myself wanting LOUDER! biggrin

So, I ordered the Radium Cold Air Intake (CAI) kit from Radium Engineering in the US. It cost quite abit (around £400 from memory) to actually get it to my door due to taxes etc but it is honestly the best money I've spent this year. I fitted the kit myself using the detailed instructions that came with the kit. It took roughly three hours to fit, however I was taking my time and being careful not to drop anything down into the depths of the engine bay, never to be seen again.

The Radium Kit completely transformed the sound of the car, I am sure there is a performance benefit somewhere along the line but to be honest the sound alone is worth the money. At lower speeds (around town etc) the induction noise is pretty much undetectable, apart from a slight 'chirp' on the gearchanges, similar to that of a quiet dump valve. The fun all starts when you get to the NSL signs, sport mode on, a quick down change, back on the throttle and this almighty induction roar not only brings the engine to life, but also brings the biggest smile to your face. At higher speeds the induction system barks as you change gear. I really cannot stress how loud it actually is! biggrin

I've tried many times to find another sound of which to compare the sound of the Evora with the Radium kit too. I've heard some people mention 'baby Lambo' but I don't really think it sounds like that, maybe sort of Honda NSX type of sound if anything!?! Whatever it sounds like, it certainly sounds the spaniels spuds! All I know is that I am completely addicted to the sound, be warned though, it apparently hurts the passengers ears if their window is down! hehe

The other thing to watch out for with the Radium kit fitted is that the car can be heard from a much greater distance away, some friends (and an officer of the law)rolleyes said they could hear the car from over a mile away on a quiet evening.

After coming up to nearly two years of ownership I still love the car, I occasionally regret not buying the S version but for the minimal amount of time I use the car, I really can't justify spending the extra, when on so many occasions people (including Lotus staff) have said it doesn't make too much of a difference on the road.

I have to say though, whether it's an NA or an S, I have never ever driven a car that gets so much positive attention. I have yet to fill up at a petrol station without getting someone wanting to have a look and a chat, so beware of the half hour fuel stops!

Cheers

Thanks Justin

Another anamoly on the audio system , when I fade to the rear speakers it just fades to the sub only ?

Is this normal, or should it fade to the rear speakers ?

Maybe they have wired the sub off the rear channels ?
