How tempting is this or am I missing something ?

Went to look at a used 2010 Evora at Lepsoms and in the showroom was this car.....

Built in 2011 but never registered as its been in the Lotus Factory showroom for two years. Wil be registered as new but manufactured 2011. £15000 off the new car price. Am I missing something here or is it a genuine bargain ?

I have just bought a low mileage used one full spec, if i had a bigger budget i would of looked at it as it looks a good buy to me, you could spend a bit and spec it up, not sure how difficult it might be for re sale though, they have had it a while so could be a bit of discount to be had or a deal with them fitting some extra kit!!
I have the wheels and mirrors painted in gloss black and I think it looks stunning. Red looks so much better with gloss black wheels IMO. What's it going to be worth in 2-3 years, who knows, depends on what mileage you put on it and so many other factors. You will probably want to put a sports exhaust on it also to make it sound like it looks!! Good luck with the hunt!!

Depends how you look at it and what you spec you're after. That Evora would have been less than £50k retail; apart from sport pack it literally has no options on it.
That and a new one would be the latest MY13 spec, not MY11.Depends how you look at it - it's either cheap for a 'new' Evora, or expensive for 2 year old, low spec MY11 Evora 2+0. Someone got a relatively low mileage, similarly optioned and age Evora S 2+2 for £36k recently from a dealer iirc and there have been unregistered, decent spec, MY11 Evora S's available for £40-42k.
Looked at an S model under same scenario...2011 model not registered. Funnily enough they also tried to compare saving vs new 2013 model, even though the original 2011 car was £5k less
Concerns were a car potentially stood around for 2+ years, which isn't good for a car , plus the potential hassle down the line trying to sell the car on, explaining 2011 spec on newer reg.
Made what I thought was a fair offer, based on car being for sale for months on end, but was turned down. Amazingly enough another month down the line, the car is still for sale at same price, still showing incorrect price saving vs 2013 model and we'll soon be heading out of summer. Good luck there then
Will consider an Evora S again at year end.
Good luck with your search btw

Hmm, my tuppence..
It's cheap yes, for a reason. It's not very well spec'd at all, it may be a 2013, but it's a 2011 interior. The 2012 interior is a big step up, and most people will want that, over a 13 plate with 11 interior.
As soon as you put any miles on it, it'll lose 5k quickly to line up with the rest of the market.
It'll essentially be a poorly spec'd pre-12 car in my eyes.
35k would almost get a good S.. I'll have a look in the classified
Just my opinion.

Seems S' are still around 40k.
I'd pick one of these 3 personally.

Well spec'd

Rare colour, great interior although no Tech Pack. Looks like the S exhaust though?
This is also nice

If you don't need rear seats and want a red one with black interior I thought it looked like a good deal. As far as I am concerned it is one of the better colour combinations (waiting to be shot down in flames but arguable...)
As far as spec is concerned a lot of the bits are either not needed or can be post fitted, really up to you.
good luck

Think it seems not unreasonable to me if it comes with a full warranty, so that anything like dampers or dry seal related is resolved further down the line.
All the cars in the previous post are not the S model, which commands a higher value. I would hope that if I were to sell my similarly spec`d car now, I`d get at least £36 for it with 18K miles?...was recently offered this from a dealer in part ex for an Exige V6, so whilst the dealer was giving me a better price, it was a dealer price, so private ought to be better.
Decided to stick with the Evora because far better all round, and actually think it handles better aswell, or at least has the better chassis, and have got it boosted to 390hp instead!!...now it really is quick.
Anyhow, once you buy it you will not be selling it in a hurry!

This is an interesting read, It is not uncommon for a new car to remain unsold for many months often layer up in storage, what is being described from what I can see is a new car full warranty, the rear seats are fine for kids and occasional a 2+0 is just as practical as a 2+2 in terms that I am never going to take 3 adults on a drive across the country in the Evora. so zero rear seats is not an issue in fact the shelf is highly practical. Low spec? well £10 to add folding door mirrors, you can add the cruise control and 2 din radio later all the wiring is there.
I would buy that Evora if I didn't already have one as it represents reasonable price and value for money Go Buy an S and it will have many more miles on and less warranty
I suppose you pay your money and take your choice but it looks a good deal to me......(all cars drop in value but that looks like a reasonable buy to me)

So what did you do and how much did it cost to get the extra 45hp?Komotec developed kit through Hanger 111....new manifolds, supercharger ratio altered slightly to give more boost, and a remap of the air/fuel ratio. The engine is surprisingly even smoother and rockets round to the red line (used to give up the ghost at 6200 - 6500rpm, and in 4th epecially is much quicker. I have not driven it much yet, and it needs more road time for the ECU settings to fully calibrate in all gears, but the car now feels truly quick....not that the chassis could not handle even more power. Apparently the gearbox is good for 500hp, with the clutch being the limiting factor. Komotec are developing a 420hp upgrade with noticeably more torque, but this will require a clutch change so therefore will be expensive!...but maybe worth it??
It appears I am the first Evora they have done in the UK although they did an Exige to 410hp a few weeks ago. I am assured the system has been endurance race tested in Germany and is TUV approved so emissions etc are compliant. Hopefully the TUV did a better job than they did with breast implant silicon!

sounds great CTE, very envious.
To put it into perspective for all you non Evora owners thinking of getting one and not sure of the best way to go, low mileage NA or higher mileage S, the NA still feels quick on all but a very straight road and is still great fun across country. I took a friend out in mine last night and he has been in a lot of Lotii over the years, both slow and fast, and he was very surprised by the pace of my NA.
If you have unlimited funds go for an S with all the mods, but if your budget wont stand for it and you end up with an NA you wont be disappointed.
cheers

Just picking up the comments about "spec'ing up" and Evora. I am in the process of selling (trying to) my VX220, with an aim of hopefully getting into an early NA Evora beginning next year.
Anyway, can anyone advise what (if any) items are retro-fitable with respect to things like cruise control, sport button / option etc.? From stuff I've read (and looking at what I'd want from the car) the sports pack would be the priority, but cruise control would also be very useful for trips on the motorway which won't be infrequent..
This would open up the market for me, in that I wouldn't be fixed on a car with the Tech pack if cruise control was a relatively easy retro-fit.
