I have checked my manual to find out if there is a recommended method of putting some tape on the headlights so as not to dazzle oncomming traffic. I have also e-mailed my local dealer, but they have not replied with a solution.
Does anyone here know what to do....or do I just mess around and work it out myself?

Thanks

The light kits have instructions depending on type of light/glass

On the above subject....driving in Europe, has anyone managed to get a set of replacement lights at a reasonable cost. I have just been informed the front units require replacement burner units at over £300 each!!!

I think he means the spare bulbs you are legally required to carry?

Not really. You can be nicked for driving with a defective light in some European countries. That doesn't mean it's illegal to not carry spare bulbs, however.

If you're driving through France or Spain (more or less inevitable given most the ferry routes).....

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...

"Also, most European nations recommend carrying a spare bulb kit which will allow you to change your headlamps in the event of a problem. If you're heading to Spain or France you must carry this by law."

Halfords don't have any vested interest in giving out incorrect advice on buying bulbs, of course. Find an actual law.

Just get a std set of bulbs if you're worried. Its not like they are going to check them on the roadside!

If you scroll down to Note #11 on here : http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/touring_tips/... - they state that carrying spare bulbs is only a recommendation for all European countries except Croatia where they are compulsory.

Just covered 1100 miles from London to Cattolica on the Italian Adriatic. Caught the 10.45 pm shuttle from Folkstone, drove through the night along the French motoways which were empty. Covered 500 mies in 6 hours, had breakfast at 7am overlooking lake Geneva. Pressed on through Switzerland, crossed the Simplon pass by midday and overnight stop in Italy in the lakes, arriving 1.30 pm. Next day hit the Italian motorways, around Milan, south to Modena, Bologna, Imola, then the resort by midday. The car was simply awesome and felt bullet proof, my Evora is an N/A and returned 32 MPG, cruising at 85mph, think the long ratio gearbox really played it's part.

Will be returning to UK this weekend so will provide an update and photos. Probably a little more leisurely though as i will be tavelling back with my wife!

Totally agree as we did a very similar trip, although we went no further south than the lakes....but played around the various passes in the alps instead!

I took the Elise down through France to Monaco last year. I pretty much got everything from halfords including deflectors to stick on headlamps and spare bulbs. I didn't guess with the bulbs and used the in store guide to find ones for the Elise. I have to assume they are correct considering it's a multinational establishment. Mind you, never really drove in the dark over there so didn't have to replace them :-)

May be returning to France in aug in exige and will take the same kit. Hope that helps.

Thanks, a bit after the event, but I did get the headlamp deflectors from Halfords. I did not bother with he correct full bulb kit given that Lotus wanted a fortune for the main beam lamps, although they can be bought for a fraction of the price, even at Halfrauds!
