Ok, I am getting quotes of around £480 for the Evora S for the two of us (wifey and I) but Privilege Insurance are as low as £260 but with an £1100 excess against £500 for all the others. Thoughts?

Is that mileage limited or unlimited usage in a year?

Hugely variable.

I pay £800 so that's sounds very cheap.

Pointless comparison though

Mine was around £500 when I had it, 9 yrs no claims, 10000 mileage limit, me and wife, both clean licence, garaged. Think final quote due just before I sold it was in mid £400s. Was shocked to see my next vehicle, a Range Rover will only be £200 to insure!

Just a gamble surely? £220 better off if you don't crash, £380 worse off if you do.

I think its also how honest you are with the insurance companies so mine has business travel, an excess of £500 plus some other security no claims protector the policy is around £750 (cant remember the exact figure)

Now I have just had a letter from Competition car insurance who insure my 7 having revised their policies with the underwriters they want to do a credit check and confirmation that this is indeed a 2nd car now I am returning the letter stating I am not agreeing to a credit check as they do not supply me with any form of Credit.

So guys all I can say is make sure you pay for decent cover and declare actual use (I am sure you all do) it looks like these insurance companies are seeking ways to tighten their policies to create that require full declaration of anything they can think of

Out of interest, as I'm 'in the market' for an Evora, I contacted my current insurer (One Call) for a quote on the MY2009 Launch Edition I'm going to look at next week. In a straight swap for my current car, a MY2010 Alfa Romeo 159 1750TBi Ti Sportwagon, keeping the same £500 excess and 12k mileage limit, it's going to be £317 which is £22 CHEAPER???????

Go figure that one! They've emailed me confirmation, valid for a month, so I can hold them to it if I yield to temptation in the next few days.

P.S. Just had a quote from Privilege, protected NCD, 12k miles, £600 excess, Social Domestic & Pleasure only : £288!

Also with Privilege £320 for 2011 evora s with business use, protected no claims and legal protection. £1100 XS. This is by far the cheapest I've ever insured a 'decent' car for and i could not get within £400 of this last year. Also Privilege is the only company I've ever made a claim with (many years ago) and the service was good.
