I tested two Evoras today. One a 2011 model and the other a 2012 model. Being quite warm today we put the air con on. Frankly it was hopeless on both and seriously put me off the car. Its a lot of money to have a car effectively without a/c.

How do you Evora owners cope?

My car is same age/spec and the aircon is a bit naff, but it probably just needs regassing....does`nt bother me too much though, although we are doing a trip to Italy in early July so maybe I will get it sorted before then?

It was quite a big issue for me. It din't feel as cold as it should have and I don't want to find that in the summer I use other cars because they have better a/c. I was told that it is quite poor but they sell Evoras in hot countries so how do they cope?? Also I spoke to and a/c speciailist today who said that often the manufacturer doesn't fill the a/c fully as it saves cost (coolant being quite pricey) and that I should have an Evora regassed indpenedently and filled to the correct amount before buying.

Could just be the charge has dropped if it's not been used regularly?

There was a TSB for the a/c drain tube, but that is from 02/10 so shouldn't apply to MY11/12 cars.

Yep, maybe but given one was a MY12 model I'd have expected it to be better/have lasted longer.

Really? Can't say I've had much problem with mine. Still nice and chilly!

It did have the AC condenser replaced under a recall IIRC

2010 model here, and my aircon is great. In the summer here last year it was a lifesaver.

Mines a 2010 60 plate and it's rubbish, just cool at best worries me a bit that if it's really hot I'll be leaving it at home and using BM. Dealer tells me 'they are all like that' but on new model the AC pipe is re routed and meant to be better.
Wonder now with some responses above saying there's are nice and cold........

Mines fine I think it is also how long your driving for if your just off to sainsburua and back you may not get the full benefit. Same as the heater the golf is hot after just a couple of miles the Evora is just getting tepid but on a run it gets hot or with the air com nice and chilly

The Evora obviously needs the a/c. However, I was told I was mad to spec my Exige Roadster sans a/c. It's heavy, doesn't work consistently well, will eventually fail at huge cost to fix and unnecessary on the Roadster anyway. I've never had a/c on any of the Elise's I've owned and never got out of any of them thinking it really needs a/c.

How weird most a/c are industry standard components these days so why would it fail any more than a standard car? the last car I had without a/c was an old Vauxhall Cavalier (should have known better)

My Evora's a/c is working great as did the one that was in the Europa I had, I hear that a/c is also welcomed by Exige drivers, whilst the airflow sweeps the heat away from the engine bay the a/c keeps the cabin cool and de-mists the glass very quickly

Dispute the supplying dealer telling me there all like that, it's now in with a different dealer and they have found a pipe with a hole in it and no gas so hopefully when I get it back it will much better!

Kip I suspect you will be reporting a nice chilly cabin, the air con makes a whole world of difference when its working.

Bit late to the party but the A/C in my car is more than adequate, perfectly capable of keeping the cabin cool in high 20's. early cars had a we problems but mine has never been regassed or repaired and is a MY11
