Lotus Owned Evoras
Discussion
Hi guys, just wondering if I can pick your brains:
Have Evoras that are being disposed of by Lotus themselves been used on Lotus track days at the factory i.e. used and abused?
I ask because I'm considering purchasing one which was 'owned' by one of their regional sales guys.
Or would it just be extremely well maintained?
Any help much appreciated.

It's just a company car and will have been used and looked after as such. Lotus staff aren't like kids in a toy shop tearing it around all over the place, they have to look after their cars as any company car user does although they do have the advantage of maintenance done at the factory. If it comes back in less than perfect condition, you can't pull the wool over the eyes of the people who built it so I'd say perhaps it's looked after even better than most!
If it's a sales guys car, it'll have done a lot of motorway miles with an eye on the MPG so certainly not abused at all.

You should not have any issues purchasing an ex management car, my prior Elise 111R was one and it performed immaculately throughout the years I had it. Only issue was a rattle and it was eventually traced to a rogue golf ball in the boot (how they managed to fit a set of clubs is beyond me).
Also as a vote of confidence I know of a Lotus Service Manager who has purchased an ex-management Evora, so you can be assured there is nothing dodgy abput ex management cars if he is putting his hard earned cash into one.

Even if it has been used on track, the cars are checked over and serviced every time they come back to the workshop. When they're 'defleeted' they're given a thorough going over, are partially rebuilt and get any issues sorted.
Also the cars are driven sympathetically and aren't abused (as we get told off if things like tyres and brakes are showing excessive wear) and they do a maximum of two or three laps at a time, half of the time with a slow visitor at the wheel.
My car is an ex-marketing car and has done some track laps (including with me driving it when it was on the fleet!), and if I was worried about it I wouldn't have bought it! As it goes I've done about 16k in it (21k in total) in less than a year and only had a few interior rattles and a set of ARB drop links (replaced with a newer more robust design) to sort out.
I personally would be far more worried about buying a car from a private owner who has used it on track as it'll be lapping all day and would be unlikely to get a service before and after.

I test drove the car yesterday, and it all seemed to be very much like you guys predicted.
It was indeed a high mileage vehicle. Fully specced, March 2012 (not the new interior), but already with 12,500 miles on the clock. I was hoping that this fact would have made it much cheaper than the £46K they wanted.
As I'd already seen 2011 cars with only 2,000 miles on the clock for £42,500, I reluctantly passed.
Anyone know of a low mileage, fully specced, black Evora S, 19/20" wheels, red paprika for circa 40K????

That is big money considering it's not an updated MY12.
That assumes it ISN'T a MY12 car? The 'new' interior is only if you spec the Premium Sport Pack, which most MY12 cars seem to have, but isn't standard.http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Models_-_Evora#MY12_Update...
