I've had a trial contact lens fitting this morning. I had gas permeable ones years and years ago but was too lazy to get on with them. I'm trying daily disposable soft ones this time as I envisage only using them periodically.

All is fine, except things about a metre or so away seem huge. So looking at watches in shop windows, they all look massive (I know that's the fashion) but these all look way bigger than normal. I had a comedy 20 mins in B&Q looking at the size of things like chisels. I can't wait to have a shower later smile.

Is this size effect normal? I'm pretty short-sighted - presumably my glasses would have been making things smaller rather than the CLs making things bigger?

Yes, your specs are making things look smaller. I get the same thing. Go shopping with contact lenses in and three days down the line I find I've no fking food left.

I wear dailies occasionally, and when I take them out I want to throw up for 5 mins. And yes stuff is clearer and bigger, or so I tell the wife.

Seems to me that wearing specs has made everything seem smaller... Now everything is to scale it all seems massive...

Now all you got to do is find a girl who has just switched to contacts and job's a gooden wink

I've worn daily contact lenses pretty much every single day for about 5 years now and have never experienced this....
