Are any other PH'ers a victim of this?

The other half gets dreadful PMT, when she's at that stage, the world had better watch out, and her family are certainly fair game. Tried and tested method is keep mouth shut, head down and in a few days normal service will resume.

What is particularly irritating when I point out that she's got PMT and is being unreasonable (this is reserved as the nuclear option - a row is guaranteed!), and then apparently this perfectly legitimises the hell that has been raised and us.

Please tell me that I'm not the only one...

PS. I could man up, but that only blows the steam further, and to be honest my way of coping works... She is normally quite a rational person...

I am horny as hell most the time but once a month it is worse, hehe I will be brave and chip in having spent pretty much the last two days in uncontrollable tears for no reason at all. My friend took me to the pub last night to help and said that coffee made a massive difference to her if she drank her usual amount she was struggling to rationalise murder of the ones she loved, when she lessoned it everyone survived. So it might be worth (carefully) suggesting it to your wife. Sadly I don't drink coffee or any caffeine at all but there are other ways it can be improved, some birth control methods, St Johns wart (I think) could all help reduce it. I am off to doc this week if I get any more tips I will report back. I hate being female.

My mother - who is in her 70s, says there was no such thing as PMT when she was young.

I'm very level headed all the time. Lucky I suppose especially as I'm a redhead. Not hormonal nor feisty just plain old reliable.

My ex-wife did. I was waiting for her to reach the menopause so she'd be like it all the time.

Cheers mods - Other half's strops in Health?

Partners moods are not (fortunately) only at me, but anyone in the family or beyond. They seemed to get worse after she had a miscarriage (the first one after was not fun to be around).

Still I have a nice quiet few days and get chance to get some extra work done..

In the early years of our marriage my OH refused to believe she had a problem. I stuck a year planner to the wall and asked her to mark a big red cross on the dates we fought, and the day she started her period. In just a few months a pattern appeared, 24 days exactly after the start of her period we'd have three days of open warfare, me sleeping on the sofa, I could do nothing right, the whole nine yards. I started marking the calendar myself, in advance, and taking the piss by forecasting the fight-nights as they approached. We eventually reached an understanding that I'd keep the hell out of her way, and she'd bite her tongue on red-cross-days. She then had a hysterectomy, but was is still a crabbit every 28 days.

Some months I'm fine, others I'm a complete SWT frown

Because I'm irregular, taking note of the cycle does help a little, but is not always conclusive... take this weekend for instance, I've gone from happy to screaming banshee (alcohol & cat missing was involved as contributing factors frown) to weeping mess all day today frownfrown

None of the herbal remedies work for me either, just something that I have to live with, fortunately when I notice I can control it smile

My ex wife went through this, it was tin helmet time once a month and a real strain. Her doctor recommended having an IUS coil fitted and it pretty much solved that problem.

Used to suffer pain, sickness and utter despair, sobbing at almost anything.

Then I had the mirena coil fitted 2 years ago. No pain, no anger and no irrational sobbing. And no periods. Absolutely brilliant. Changed my life.

Not sure how I will tell if I ever become one of the 1 in a thousand contraceptive failures though.

Wtf? Am I the only one grossed out at the suggestion that more than one dude here wants some sort of bloodbath action? Freaks.

You do know that PMT stands for PRE Menstrual Tension and that most symptoms usually appear before the "bloodbath"?
The actual 'event' is frequently relatively symptom free

You're almost certainly in the minority. Most PHers are clever enough to work out that bodily fluids, whatever the colour, are just that. Doesn't bother me in the slightest - and what we will now name the "Penny-factor" is a positive too. smile
