Hi there,

Have any PH'ers or their wifes in the South East area had cosmetic surgery (in particular tummy tuck) and would care to recomend/warn against or any other info to share?

Thanks

I know it's the Daily Fail but I read this shortly after someone I know had breast implants and it was concerning.

Personally I think anyone considering cosmetic surgery needs to think very carefully about why they need it and if it's worth the risks.

Unless there's a medical reason, eat less and move more.

My friend wanted one of these, no issue with weight just where she has had kids

You can lose the fat, and tighten the muscles.

But once the skin is stretched there is not much more you can do apart from a cut 'n' shut.
I had thought that skin would shrink over time, however, like a man in orthopedic shoes, I stand corrected.

This is exactly the point. Nothing will naturally get rid of loose saggy skin :-(

See above. I gym everyday for 2 hours and as of next week compete in triathlons. I also eat very heathily. Thankyou for your advice.

With regards to advice on cosmetic surgery........

Only see a surgeon who is listed on the GMC specialist register for plastic, reconstructive & aesthetic surgery.
Personally I would steer clear of the high street clinics and ads from the back of the ladies' glossys. They don't always use fully trained plastic surgeons and the surgeons can be flown in only for a set period, making access to them, should you have a problem, quite difficult.
Avoid anywhere that charges you up front and anywhere that has a saleswoman as your first contact !

There is lots more.......

Pm if you want further info

From "observation", it does appear that you can be as thin as anything but still have the loose skin around the midriff after childbirth. I know someone who I would not say is even vaguely fat (I like them slim so it's no exaggeration from me) yet has this same problem.

check out specific forums - they are a huge help on stuff like this and will have hundreds of people that have had the surgery (esp stuff like tucks and implants)

the women on there become as expert about surgeons and procedures as the car people here on engines (and they are probably as useless at cars as this lot are on cosmetics wink ) You'll have to wade through plenty of "will my benefits cover going to an HHH size" but you'll get a real taste of the pros and cons.

And ignore the "just exercise" or "be happy with what you have" stuff. There are MILLIONS of women very happy about their work and you never hear about it (or notice it....the only work that gets into the media is "gone wrong" disasters or Jordan esque tits.....it's like regarding cars as lame because you only ever see ones that break down on get add ons fitted from Halfords)

I was on there a while back and they know their stuff, they can recommend good companies and surgeons.
