Click in ear when I swallow?

About ten days ago I had an ear infection, it ached and was sore around the outer tube thingy, and the doc gave me some antibiotics and anti inflammatory drops.
So, the pain went away, but now I find every time I swallow I hear a sort of gooey click in my ear. If I do the hold-the-nose-and-blow thing I also hear gooey gurgly bubbley noises from that ear. The other one seems okay, just a little noise occasionally.
A few days ago I flew for 18 hours from the Philippines to the USA, to join my ship, with no ear troubles or pain, but there is still this clicking sound.
I have no hearing problems, but it is occasionally muffled until I swallow.
Inner ear infection? We have a medic on the ship, but no real doctor as such.

The doc had a look in my ears with the camera device, at the hospital, nothing in there, doc says they are clean.
They also did some pressure test thing, on the ear drum, using some device that pumps up the ear, checked out as good each side.
I had man flu a month ago, and seem to have a clagged up throat for three or four weeks after, so it could be some of that lingering in the Eustachian tubes.
I'll leave it a few more days then see how it develops, and maybe get the medic on the job.

Ears can take several weeks to clear properly after an infection, well the eustachian tubes do (I've had enough blocked/ infected ears over the years to confirm this 
)
I would say things should be back to normal by 6 weeks after the start of the problem. I'm just clearing up from one at the mo, 3 weeks now, slowly getting better (I think!)
