The blades being razor blades.

In these tough economic times, I've eschewed Gillette's shaving products in favour of King of Shaves because the blades are half the price (still bloody expensive though). Of course, the other aspect to this that affects the overall cost is the frequency of blade changes. I'm someone who only appreciates how blunt a blade has become when I put a new one in, so probably change every 3 weeks or so. On the other hand, I have a mate who uses a fresh blade every shave. So, what do other people do?

(I cannae do a poll but is it within a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks etc. or days?)

IBTM

Back on topic, I change once it starts getting uncomfortable, seems to vary from blade to balde but I can get a good dozen shaves out of a Mach3 blade.

tend to use an electric razor, gives a good shave and requires no blade changing, just a bit of cleaning to get excess hair out.

You have no beard though do you...

Find the 19 blade Gillete Supercharged V8 razors actually work too well and cause ingroing hairs...

When they start to go rusty.

A pack of cheap £1.99 for 5 lasts about 4-6 months. Any discomfort can be dealt with by use of decent shaving gel (KoS) and by not being a fking big pussy.

I never change blades, I just sharpen them instead.

Why not try a straight razor? I've been using mine for 6 years, and I get it sharpened at the shop every 12 months. Then you'll never have to change your blades again! Plus you get a closer shave than anything else.

I used the safety razor blades. I probably get 3 shaves out of each blade, but then again I left by facial hair grow quite a bit befire I shave. The blades are mega cheap.

When I used Gilette Catridges I would probably have 5-6 at least.

Disposables, 79p for 5. Shave foam, 89p for a can, or sometimes I just use soap or shower gel, it's pretty much the same stuff. Five disposables last at least 7 months.

I did have a straight razor once, cost about £80. When I'd finished shaving I looked like I'd fought a fking leopard and I still had half my beard.

Mach 3, change the blades every 2-3 months ish, so that's about 40 shaves or there abouts. Can't say I can feel much difference between a new blade and old one to be honest, it still shaves as smooth as the bits where no hair grows!

Here are my rules:

1. Shave for work only, so Mon-Fri
2. Change blade (Mach 3 turbo) 1st of every month, unless
a) pulling
b) wife has used it to shave her legs irked

Is it just me or have the blades got ridiculously expensive recently?

Used the KoS "Azor" for a while. Utter pish, kept breaking

Bought a wilkinson yesterday, 3quid and comes with 2 blades
