Managed to somehow dislodge a filling yesterday eating lunch - didn't even notice until I felt a huge hole in one of my teeth (this was after spitting out what I though was a raspberry seed)

Can't get to a dentist till next week at the earliest - anything I should be doing so I dont die from it untill I get there?

No real pain to speak of, notice that something is a bit funny with it, but could just be because my tounge has convinced me that there is a crater the size of an orange in it.

Am flying twice in the next few days - been told that it could be an issue, but I'm not convinced - ibuprofen and French copy bonjela a good idea though?

Make sure you don't chew with it or it could beak. Flying could be a problem (ie agonising pain) if the nerve gets inflamed. If it starts to hurt on its own probably best avoided, sounds like you'll be ok though.

You can buy temporary filling stuff these days such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dr-Denti-Tooth-fil-Kit/dp/...

I would like to know Driller's opinion on these products. Are they a complete waste of money?

It'll be coming out of your ass in under 48 hours.

You just have to poo in something that will enable you to gather your feaces and sift through it. Then you have your filling back and can get it reattached.

Think I'll take my chances with the company dental insurance rather than the poo filling, but thanks for the suggestion - fairly sure I spat it out anyway - hence the raspberry seed comment.

Gonna take my chances with flying - worst case is I get boozed and painkillered up to deal with it.

Might any dentist near you you can find be able to fit you in? They could perhaps just pack it temporarily until you can get back to your normal one for a proper job.

Unless there is a dentist in CDG or Copenhagen airports that idea is up the spout.

Just going to wing it unless it starts causing real trouble - will see what the French chemist has on offer.

Looks like a Zinc Oxide/Euganol beased thing which you'll find in any dental practice. If you can get the mix right and the tooth dry enough with no airline and suction (cotton rolls maybe) then I don't see why it shouldn't serve as a temporary solution.

Parsnip I'm just south of Paris if you run into any problems, an RER journey from CDG. Feel free to give me a shout.

Thanks for the offer (shows how cool PH really is), but the real problem is that I have no time to sort it while I'm in Paris - in the office 6 till 7 tomorrow and Thursday before flying back to Norway on Friday morning.

Plenty of dentists in Stavanger - was only going to do anything about it in France if I was doing any serious damage by leaving it a few days or if it was going to cause hassle on the flights - by the sounds of it, I should at the very least survive - living with it seems the lesser of two evils compared to rearranging flights or missing time at work when I'm only here for a quick visit.

Both flights went without a hitch.

Hole definitely feels like it is getting bigger - wither it actually is or not is another matter.

Still no pain, even with my patented ice cold water test, which I take to be a good sign.

Now all I need to do is get an appointment to get it fixed, which is easier said than done when dealing with workshy Norwegians.
