Trying to be succinct; Mum was hospitalised in April '08, went rapidly downhill (couldn't walk, feed herself, converse and was doubly incontinent) and was diagnosed with Dementia. She was moved into a nursing home under CHC. She was resident in Lewisham, London, but I got her into a home in Bournemouth.

2.5 years on I am no longer happy that the home she is in is actually suitable or benefiting her (an 'incident occured with another resident and also she isn't getting the level of stimulation she needs from staff or other residents) so wish to move her. A brand new place is opening less than a mile from where I live which in itself is a major benefit, and I also believe that the way that they will care for the residents and the staff ratios will be much more appropriate to Mum.
Anyway, this hoped for move has prompted a review by Lewisham (which was carried out on their behalf by Bournemouth and Poole CHC) and because she has improved since her release from hospital (and last and only assessment) she will no longer be eligible for Continued Health Care.

The paperwork has gone back to Lewisham Brokerage team and they will be reviewing the case on Monday, so nothing is confirmed yet, but the guidance that I received from the assessor was that Mum's funding will now change.

What this seems to mean practically is that the new home may not be able to take her, as her level of funding is almost certain to drop.

Does anyone have any advice, words of warning or guidance, experience in this so that I can be somewhat prepared for next week?

Sorry if there are more gaps than actual information in this post!

TIA
