Not sure if this should be here or food and drink - mods feel free to move it.

This one has really got me thinking, I mean if you are going to lose weight then this looks like one of the most fun ways to do it! But I can't believe he ended up healthier, it seems impossible.

what's so special about that?

bloke reduces calorie intake and loses weight. that's been known for god knows how many years. it wouldn't have been fun at all because he'd have been bloody starving, 1800kcal from pure st food isn't much in terms of mass of food. so he'd have been bloody hungry a lot of the time due to the stomach not being full, nor the food providing good satiation.

sounds better than it really is, and it's really not magic at all...

So it goes to show that calories are calories and there is no magic food, just eating fewer calories than you burn to lose weight. Who'd'a thunk it?

Yes I understand the weight loss part- I'm not that thick! I was more interested in the fact that his cholesterol etc went down too. We are often told that weight alone is not an indicator of health, but this seems to disprove that.

See. My K Diet would have worked, too. I bet many morons were surprised, though. I mean, his students (university!) needed it proving to him!

As for his health, who knows what ste he ate before.

biggrin Add to this, that Dr Atkins died of obesity. People in medicine don't always practice what they preach even if they know loads about their field. The smokers in medical gear standing outside hospitals always makes me chuckle.

Nope. A handy myth propagated by those with something to gain...

Clearly he didn't but he didn't die from following his diet, which many do state as criticism of the Atkins Diet...

He was eating less saturated fat and cholesterol in total, so his blood levels dropped. However, it doesn't say they dropped to healthy levels - just that they were lower.

You and your reading. Why can't you just take in the headline and assume the rest like normal people? hehe

I hate the Wail - apparently he "gorged" on snacks, all 1200 calories of themrolleyes

There's another headline about Angelina Jolie's figure and isn't it amazing for a mother of 6 - oddly anough they fail to mention that she adopted three of those.

wkers.
