Have just wasted 2 hours at my Doctors to spend about 5mins being told "you have a chest infection, you need plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids and steam inhalation will help clear it through....no antibiotics though, just let it run its course"

Sage advice if you ask me.. If antibiotics aren't required, they shouldn't be prescribed.

It's no wonder that I hear how in x years time we will be immune to the current strength of antibiotics, everyone seems to expect them.

I'm not disagreeing...
.....although they could have told me that over the phone and I could have stayed home in the warm instead of the 20mins each way plus 2 hours sat in a GERM PIT with coughers and sneezers frown

Try and get hold of some Phytobronchin - tastes rank but is good for chest infections.

When I had a chest infection earlier in the year my Doc gave me antibiotics. I've never felt so poo in my life and was grateful for something. What was surprising was that I rang in the morning and was able to get an appointment within the hour!

Also it's rubbish about drinking plenty of fluids. If you drink the normal amount for a healthy person you do not need to increase

fluid intake because of a chest infection!!

If you don't feel any better within a week, do make sure you go back.

I left it weeks and now on steroids by the bucket load and antibiotic number three.... (you should see the green! It's quite impressive)

I'm prone to really bad chest infections and was hospitalised twice last year so looked this up. This website doesn't fill me with confidence! http://www.vitaminedesk.eu/en/product/3345/phytobr...
