This is no joke folks but for some reason I can no longer go out have a few beers and wake up without a hangover. I'm not talking loads, 3 or 4 beers will leave me with a stinking hangover the next morning, thats lasting all day. Two or three years ago 4 beers wouldn't have had any real effect, god forbid I should ever have a session think it would kill me. Don't know what to do but stop drinking yikes

You are out of practice and you are getting old. Any more than 3 or 4 and I know the following morning is going to be a real struggle.

I've never been a big drinker so can't see how my liver is fried...and six months ago I didn't have a problem and my drinking patterns have always been the same, so its not like i'm out of 'practice'............could just be my age frown

I'm 21 and am the exact same I can have 4 or 5 and I'll feel like st the next day. If im out all nite it's not unknown for me to get 2 or even 3 day hangovers. My parents are the same and they stopped drinking about 7 years ago because of it. Just not worth it. I'll maybe drink a couple of times a month now and make sure I get a really long lie the next day to try and sleep it off.

What are you eating, that may be relevant.

Hard exercise will often banish a hangover for me.

It's like when you're skiing. Just give your body something more to worry about and it'll forget about the hangover.

This!

Seriously though, it just sounds like lack of tolerance to me, if you don't drink regularly then it simply takes less to get drunk, and give you hangovers! Even a few days of abstinence can do this. Look on the bright side, at least its cheaper to get drunk biggrin

I'm the same now, I used to be able to drink a ridiculous amount and mix drinks, and still walk in a straight line. Now I feel tipsy after a few, and feel sick for up to 3 days!

I never used to get hangovers at all, it's age! I'm getting old frown

So, at 38, given that I drink 1-2 units a week, how many pints of cider would I need to guarantee a hangover the next day? Obviously, 20 would be an answer but I don't want to drink that much fluid. Be interesting to experience a hangover. nuts

What are you actually drinking? Lager or beer?

I find two things cause hangovers, dehydration and what you are drinking. I can drink most things without a hangover if I eat and drink well before, apart from Stella Artois that is brewed in Belgium. Try changing what you are drinking. I always prefer proper beer is available. Never ever mix fruit and hops (e.g., wine and beer).

There's something wrong if you're getting any worthwhile degree of hangover off 3 or 4 beers. Even a bit of a lightweight should be able to tolerate that level of consumption!
However, by the sounds of it, I very much doubt it has much to do with impending liver doom, unless it is unrelated & potential brown your trousers time.

There's a barrel load of reasons why you might get a hangover aside from quantity of alcohol consumed. It could be lack of sleep, another medical condition, state of the pipes if you're drinking in a pub, what you're drinking (remember stuff like Caffreys & Carling Premier from the past), when you're drinking, state of mind, speed of consumption, etc etc.

Try a bit of variation of circumstances and if you're still having issues, a quick trip to the quack?

I'm the same now at 33.

I used to go to house parties and drink like a fish until the sun came up.

Now, I only drink when I've eaten and avoid wine.

Try switching to something like Corona or Sol, your mates will do a pint whilst you just have a bottle of gnats piss.

If I want to hit the top shelf I'll go for a quality G&T.

It's not so much the alcohol, but the additives in the booze. Drink a decent gin and don't mix with the ale, you'll be ratted, but up like a button with the sparrows in the morning.
