How about a pair of trainers?
Seriously, my ex used to have restless legs real bad, but she'd be fine as long as she'd done some regular exercise, usually a short run or circuits at the gym.

I googled them and found rumours that they can cause all sorts of nasties such as varicose veins.

As exercise, it's apparently a bit like walking through sand, which would imply the sole is soft rather than making you stand taller.

I have a pair of MBTs that I wear for work and they've worked wonderers for my hip pain. I did a 12 hour shift yesterday and was totally fine (apart from my neck, but that's another story). Fitflops are really comfy, but I've only worn then for short periods so don't know how they are with back pain.
