Look at Meniers disease while your there, my Dad had this, fixed with an operation inserting rubber grommets.
He had ringing/whistling and dizzy spells from it.
Is he completely fixed? I know someone who has tinnitus, possibly Menier's, and the consultants say it is permanent. He had ringing/whistling and dizzy spells from it.

No ringing though, and he is on medication for the rest of his years, its a trial med for Meniers that is more commonly used in the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, which he finds amusing at 72YO.
Spider.
I kid you not.
The noise is the spider slowly eating away at the little hairs in your ear drum, as each one 'dies' it lets out a specific frequency (the 'tone' it was designed to pickup). Make the most of it, because as each one dies it's the last time you'll ever hear that particular frequency again.
I'd suggest catching a fly and superglueing it to a length of cotton thread, pass the fly into the ear canal and 'tempt' the spider out.
Bit like fishing, I guess.
Or, it'll just be an ear infection. Hope you're feeling better soon.
